If you look at the credits of the makers of the game: Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (2019) Windows credits - MobyGames, I no longer wonder what we get as patches.
I mean how does this even work?
There are more directors and leads than anybody else.
It makes sense that the artwork was outsourced.

But what were the following each doing?

  • Tantalus Media
  • Forgotten Empires
  • Wicked Witch
  • Xbox Game Studios (besides publishing and business direction)

This is just normal corporate management. I’ve worked as a software developer. At some point a team of two developers had 7 managers. Just corporate efficiency.
