Game does not recognize additional amd gpu

I tried to run the game on my laptop as well.

When running it goes straight to the intel integrated gpu and not amd radeon 530 of my dell laptop, even when set to use it on the win graphic settics (high performance, radeon 530)

Aoe 2de runs on the 530 automaticlly on the very same pc with no difference in the system settings between games.

Windows 10.
both games are through steam.

Disable integrated GPU in BIOS.

That’s one way to solve it. Still not ideal, as other games manage to switch to the 530 just fine with the intel enabled.
But thanks for the tip.

From my experience, it wasn’t only AoM who has this “issue”. If you have dedicated GPU, the most ideal thing you can do is to disable integrated GPU in BIOS as it would cause issues with regular PC usage as well sometimes.

Found out there is probably an optimization/compatibility issue.
I managed to disable the internal gpu by disabling its driver in device manager (dell’s neutured bios did not allow this)

Game runs worse on the 530 than the intel integrated, only utilize 20% of gpu in task manager and runs at 10 fps no matter the graphics (which is less frames than the intel), of course frame limit in options is much higher.

I’m limited to driver ver 27 and the game wants 31, probably the intel has better support and thats why the game didn’t automatically switch.

So I guess I can wait for a patch adding optimization (though an old amd is understandably not a priority)

That doesn’t make any sense…
If the game wants 31 and you have 27, that means you are running on integrated, not dedicated GPU.

Apparently the radeon 530 uses an older architecture, so AMD didn’t bothored with any additional updates beyond 27.20.
