This has been happening on Xbox Series X. Whenever I go to ‘Host Game’ and try to play with friends against AI, their game freezes. Usually between the 20-30 minute mark. Lately my game has been freezing as well after they crash and get disconnected, usually 20 or so minutes after they lag out. It’s literally every single game we try to play.

This has happened to me and my friend a few times now, sometimes its 40 minutes into the game other times its 20. At first it was just him freezing now its me (the host) cant figure out whats doing it.

Yes, exact same thing. For the first time recently, my game froze first as the host. But it’s usually the person I invite

Same here. The game freezes way faster if you run it in Quality mode. With performance mode, it runs longer before freezing. It is literaly unplayable…

Had a couple buddies already uninstall it. Shame because it was so fun when we could actually play it. Doubt I’ll get my Xbox buddies to jump on board another age game anytime soon

Ya, we can’t play at all. Also, I probably have to make another post about this, but the skirmish option is also unplayable. It wouldn’t let me choose my faction, the UI in the setup menu was overlaying my spot on the setup screen, it was terrible. I finally got into a match with the right amount of players and it turns out there was no option to age up lol… So that’s lit. But I went into a private multiplayer match instead and just played against bots and my game didn’t freeze, so that’s something I guess.

Ya that’s a bummer. The game is very fun when it works, and I loved AOE4 too. But it is frustrating when you can’t play it. Hopefully this upcoming patch can help things.

Ya I’ve checked their twitter multiple times a day to see, and they have said one is coming up this week. Yesterday’s post said the patch will be soon. I don’t know exactly if these issues will be fixed, but we can hope.

It’s so sad that EVERY online match crash.
It takes longer to crash on Series X but on Series S it crashes around 20-40 minutes.
I really want to play this but I’ll go back to AoE

I’ve been playing online multiplayer matches with my four friends who are on xbox against the A.I. or even versus each other without the A.I. (I’m playing using the steam version and I haven’t gotten disconnected so far)
We have been encountering issues where one of my friends would randomly disconnect as early as 7min into the game. They don’t even get a option to jump back into the match.
It is very frustrating because unless we quit the current game, the disconnected friend would have to wait another 40min in order to play with us again.
It’s getting to the point where they don’t want to play anymore because it keeps happening.
It gets even more frustrating when it reaches mid or late game when the match starts to get very interesting and then…disconnects…

So game got an update today and it made it even worse for me and my Xbox friend. We went from frequent crashing in the middle of games to the game just crashing before the game even starts. We tried 3 times in a row and desynced before our vils even came out

No shot… I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, I probably won’t for a few hours at least but I’ll update here when I do. But if it’s worse, than ya that’s a big RIP. Unfortunately their Twitter hasn’t been as good with communication as I hoped, it’s mostly just promo stuff. In fact the Age of Empires Twitter was the one mentioning the patch, but they didn’t say much leading up to it either. So hopefully we can get more transparency and communication on the next patch.
