thx! Thing is that I have the Microsoft Store version, which I tend to prefer, especially in this case where we have crossplay, so I guess I don’t have that dlc, although I love the grhics as they are.
How do make links like that? I tried to creat a link to a youtube video but the video frame and thumbnail dont appear.
I think Microsoft will be some metod to the MS Store download this patch in future… You will like.
The link, i only crt+c and crt+v in message body, nothing more =D
You can 100% get EGP DLC on MS store for free same as steam
many thanks!!! I did already. It’s a hefty 26GB download. Gotta see how the game runs. Can it be enabled/disabled without having to remove it? I ask that just in case 'cos for now the game is running so fine on my laptop (hardware is a i7 Intel cpu, 1050Ti 4GB and 16GB ddr4 ram, so it should be sufficient)
There’s an option in the graphic settings, “Enable Enhanced Graphics” or something like that. You can use that to enable/disable it without having to remove/reinstall it
Cool. Say to us if the game runs good with EGP in your rig. =)
I know Age 2 is old… But this is a Remastered version… It should use more cores…
The game using 1 core has nothing to do with being old or new. The point is that many threads are best used in applications that have a beginning, middle and end as is the case with a video rendering for example. You already have all the tasks you have to do and just distribute to the threads and wait for them to work. In games the thing changes, for you to render or perform results you need results from previous actions for example to cast a shadow on an object, first the cpu needs to wait for you to position the object on the map before it starts to do the proper work and that would take time more if the task was separated and sent to all cores than simply doing it at once (it would increase latency which is often worse than falling frames).
Therefore, for games always focus on processors with higher frequencies (clock) as it will use fewer cores, the better the clock is higher.
This subject is very complex and has big topics in the gaming community (especially in Blizzard, starcraft 2 uses 1 core as well). It’s very interesting and I recommend it to anyone interested in researching about! Sorry for any mistake in English, I used the google translator because I am Brazilian and my English is not very good for writing.
it runs fine with EG graphics enabled. But I don’t see the point of it if you’re using a 1080p screen -my case-.
I have a 4k monitor and when I connect the laptop to it I am going to try the EG mod.
Having tried EG already on my laptop’s 1080p screen, something I noticed is that you lose field of view, the zoom is increased -meaning that the game is meant for 4k displays with EG enabled-.
4k equals 4 1080p screens, so you won’t notice on those and the extra detail is amazing, but not for a 1080p display, no point.
Make sense. The zoom really is increased.
It is definitely not built over AOE1DE. It’s built over HD.
You can try to turn off hyperthreading (intel) or smt (amd) in your bios. This can help you to increase your single core performance since it is not running multiple threads.
Starcraft 2 works wonders. Not like AoE 2 DE.
Nice tip, this is a good method for many games!
Yep, but use 1 core too, better use (very better) than AoE 2DE.
nope, you have to put all on low or you will have huge FPS drops in crowded engagements
