Game keeps crashing

The game crashes all the time, most times after finding a match, sometimes after playing for 5-45 min in game, issue started just after whololo update.

What i allready tried to fix the problem

  • deleted AOE by programs, also deleted c:user[username]\games
  • used display driver uninstaller and uninstalled nvidea graphics in safe mode
  • reinstalled vid drivers and AOEII

My winver 23H2, no updates available
pc setup
-cpu 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
-gpu rtx 3080
-32 gb ram

Running fortnite on high settings, i have no issue at all. Seems to exclude cpu/gpu problems

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Start windows
  2. Run steam
  3. Run AOEII
  4. Multiplayer
  5. find match (solo and 2vs2 selected normal match)

:point_down: ALWAYS attach a PICTURE (.jpg, .png, .gif) or VIDEO (.mp4, YouTube link) that highlights the problem.

No images, i got crash reports, cant upload them, got the message “Sorry, new users can not upload attachments.” I will upload them as soon as i get those rights.

The issue here comes from Quickplay, after this recent update there is a bug that might crash the game.
Another known issue that cause crashes after updates are overlays such as Nvidia, Discord or Steam overlays, try disabling them.

i’m having the same issue too

Thanks for your helpfull thinking. I played my first game again a 2v2 for 42 min ingame time.

For others who share same problems

  • Discord

Turn off Discord’s in-game overlay for all of your games by clicking the gear icon inside Discord. Click “Game Overlay” and toggle the option off . To disable the overlay for specific games, click the gear icon > Registered Games. Then, click the monitor icon beside each game to remove the overlay

  • nvidea

How to Disable Nvidia Overlay in GeForce Experience?

  1. Right click on the Nvidia system tray icon and select NVIDIA GeForce Experience.
  2. Log into your NVIDIA account.
  3. Click the Settings icon (gear) on top right.
  4. In the GENERAL tab, turn off IN-GAME OVERLAY and exit.

Go to Steam: View: Settings: In-Game: uncheck “Enable the Steam overlay while in-game”. Press OK. Then you can turn the overlay off . (The overlay will be disabled for everything else too, but at least is a workaround.)

Those three together seems to solved my problem.
