Game lagging on startup screen

:arrow_forward: GAME INFORMATION

  • GAME BUILD #: I’m not sure of the build, as the screen lags so badly at startup. latest build.
  • GAME PLATFORM: Steam
  • OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 10

:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

When i start the game, the video plays. After the video the game lags heavily while trying to enter the start up screen. I have to alt+f4. Sometimes I restart and it is fine. Sometimes I have to reset computer.

100%** of the time on the first start of the game

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Start game
  2. Play video/skip video
  3. Wait for startup screen to load

Startup screen should oad smoothly.

You can try a few things to solve this issue:

  1. Can you try to verify your files in the Steam Library? Age of Empires II → Right button → Properties → Local files. (If they have Microsoft Store, they should reinstall).
  2. Can you try to disable your mods? And restart the game after that.
  3. Can you try to close as many programs as possible before starting the game?
  4. Can you update windows and graphic card drivers?
