I have found which mod has been causing my issue. The issue was caused by the night theme for the main menu. from my understanding there must be some conflicting code with the new menu theme and the night one.

It works well! Deleting everything in the mods folder then the game can be started as usual. Thanks!

Your game won’t start, please edit this file :
C:\Users\UserName\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\UserID\mods\mod-status.json, and set the value to false for the field “Enabled” of the Night Edition Main Menu mod.
