Hi, I wanted to attempt this achievement before saying anything, but after 50 hours of grinding, I say the following criticism with heart and love for the game: yeah this is cruel.
I play on legendary, and I have managed to cut my average run time down to 27 minutes through trial and error. The problem is though, even at a 27 minute run time, I am only halfway done with the achievement at level 70. I say this, because with the increasingly steep XP margins that come with each level up, in terms of cumulative XP I am probably closer to midway then I am finishing.
This achievement inherently punishes you for playing the mode the way it was intended to be. Enjoying random blessings, legends ability, and chaos events all slow you down and inhibit your progress on the achievement. if I enjoyed those things, maybe more than 2 times, then my run would be pushing past an hour 30 minutes. So inherently, if I want the achievement, I will have to opt to rush so fast that I experience none of the features or else I will be completing the game so slow that I’m better off not trying for the achievement.
So yeah, to call this an anti-achievement would not be unreasonable given how unachievable it currently feels in spite of me cutting down my average time to be as fast as possible. If I have played so much I have begun to memorize all the possible nodes, achieved all badges, and experienced all the snippets of content in between my rushes 20 times over, don’t you think that warrants as completing the mode?
I’m not going to be critical without giving some ideas on how they can fix it though:
- Have badges grant a flat amount of XP. For example, getting a difficult badge such as the “Supreme Deity” could grant like 30K XP.
- Once you achieved all those badges, like I currently have, then your gauntlet will just fly up to the max. It make even the non-flashy ones appetizing to grab since most people are only going to work for the 3 flashy ones to display on their profile.
- Increase the multiplier for harder difficulties
- In RTS games, one of the most fundamental principles is that the more enemies there are, the exponentially harder it is, not linearly. That being said, I wonder why the legendary multiplier is only 8 despite them asking you to do a 1v4 for the finale each time as opposed to a titan match where you only have 2 opponents and such.
- Make the levels consistent. Don’t make it so it increases XP each level.
- So for example, at level 98, it would take the same amount of XP as level 5 to level up. This would be huge in making the grind possible.
- Simply just adjust the XP requirement for each level.
- Probably what most people would suggest.
