Gauntlet mode bugs/oversights

  • Game Version: Premium (irrelevant to particular issue)

  • Build Number: v.100.18.49472.0

  • Platform: Steam

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (irrelevant to particular issue)

Issues:

Having played new Gauntlet mode for a few runs, I’ve noticed a few issues. I’m going to list them all together here. These are not opinion-based, I’ll keep the “I personally don’t like X stuff” away from this thread, instead it is what I’m fairly certain are bugs or an oversights:

  • The biggest one is - unit-altering mods shouldn’t be allowed, for obvious reasons. I’m assuming it’s not intended and is an oversight, since celestial challenges forbid those. But gauntlet does allow them with no penalties for now. Right now all top scores on Legendary are clearly done through mod abuse, and you can farm badges that way pretty easily, too.
  • Nomad map doesn’t spawn Legends at all, or Regents in case of Regicide wincon.
  • Sudden Death game mode combined with 1 AI opponent in some instances doesn’t seem to immediately award victory, I literally had to do a settlement victory to get a win a few times (thankfully it’s pretty easy since this game mode means there’re no extra settlements other than opponent’s base).
  • Not entirely sure, but getting the “God” badge (10 runs on Legendary without losing a life) seems to be bugged in some way, or at least the way it tracks progress. Right now it shows 10% for me while I remember having more than 1 run without losing a life prior to current moment. Don’t know what’s the issue (if there’s any), but seems to reset when I close the game during Gauntlet run (I mean, not mid-mission, just doing a mission, returning to Gauntlet map, and closing the game). I haven’t achieved a condition for getting the achievement anyway yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but it feels like the percentage it should show me should be larger.

Trigger Event:

Playing Gauntlet mode

Repro Steps:

  1. Play Gauntlet mode
  2. Encounter one of those game modes I’m talking about, or do it with unit-altering mods.
  3. See that it behaves like I’ve described

Yea, I specifically had bad experience with no2, very annoying when your legend doesn’t appear in those nomad games. I often skip nomad completely.

Here goes a few of very minor oversights that would take less than 5mins to fix (just a copy/paste in the proto file)

Kastor (Legend) isn’t in the select all Heroes hotkey. I often send him out for Relics and forget where he is.

Exclude heroes from the Select All military Units Hotkey when they are tasked on gathering Relics or returning Relics to the Temple. This is already done for when Pharohs tasked to Empower or when Norse units are tasked to build so it can’t be that hard to do.

When playing as Alanteans and you get the random Blessing for free Dwarfs its utterly useless as they have to long range mine from TC. Just make the Alantean Citizens mobile dropsites or make the Ox Cart buildable by all civs (it wouldnt matter if the changes were gobal as you would need units from different civs to make either thing work).
