GC are useful only against cavalry and elephants, that’s it, on the other hand chukos and longbows are better versions of an arbs, and are good vs everything, countered only by onagers and rams (respectively).

Yes, GC have more attack in castle age than a standard xbow, but it also have less range, and that advantage over the standard xbow is lost when you transition to imp and both units cap their maximum base attack to 10.

So if you aren’t using that bonus vs cavalry, you are better off with +1 range, and more wood overall.

That’s why on a past topic I proposed to buff a bit the stats of the arbs too, since at least half of the time Italians would probably use them instead of the GC.
