The global queue in the upper left was one of the best quality of life features that AOE2 DE added. This one feature made the game WAY better to play, and also better for spectating and coaching, but I have noticed that it now hides many of the items queued, making it significantly less useful than it was previously.
Issue experienced
The global queue hides units that are not in the first consecutive group of units of the same type in the same building. I queued a few fishing ships and other types of ships in my dock. Then I queued a few more fishing ships, but I wasn’t sure if I was successful because they weren’t showing up in the global queue. I got confused and distracted and queued many more fishing ships in my confusion. (At least it was single player!)
Reproduction steps
Select a dock. Queue a fishing ship, then another type of ship, then a fishing ship. Observe that only one fishing ship is shown in the global queue.
Or select any building that can make two different units. Quickly queue one type of unit, then queue a different type, then queue another of the first type of unit.
Expected result
All units and technologies that are queued should be shown in the global queue so I can know what is being produced, so I can know what resources are available to me if I cancel production, so I can quickly cancel any production with Ctrl+Click, and so I can know that my queue actions were successful. This is how the game used to be. It’s a “global queue” after all, so it should show everything that I have queued globally.
(Aside: The icons should be grouped and sorted in some smart way. It would be OK to group together all the yellow icons of the same type from the same building, for example. I think the yellow icons should also be sorted based on the expected time that the first unit in them will start being produced, with the sooner times on the left.)
