Real question: can you see a difference between missions you completed before the previous patch (10th April) and those compelted after that date?
From the last patch notes we can read:
Fixed an issue that led to inconsistent display and processing of achieved campaign medals in different parts of the game.
Note: this change affects all campaign progress the way it was displayed in the previous version of the game. Medals will appear one tier higher for any campaign mission that has been completed without cheats.
I am not sure of what they chose to solve the problem on campaign progress they caused. Correcting inconsistency suggests they just fixed it, especially if if they considered it as a visual issue. This would have required to take into account the date at which the missions were completed (upgrade the completed difficulty by 1 if completed before 10th April, change nothing after, there was a mod that did exactly that). The note suggests they simply increased everything by 1 not bothering with the completion date. It’s fine by me because I stopped playing since they messed up in case of something like that, but it feels lazy…

Agreed. Real sloppy work, the devs should have rolled out a patch way sooner.
I completed all the above cited campaigns & missions after April 10, after my Moderate Silver medals were changed to Bronze.
First they added a new difficulty level (exclusive to the 3K campaigns) and didn’t bump up pre-existing badges, then when people complained about it they just bumped up badges, which at this point included badges earned after the previous patch. I’m afraid if they change anything again I’ll just lose the few gold badges I earned legitimately (William Wallace since difficulty doesn’t actually change, Alaric 1 because I didn’t realize I was playing on the hard difficulty, and Saladin 1 because it’s such an uneventful scenario).

That confirms the choice they made is to increase all the achieved difficulty levels without considering the completion date. I think it is way better to keep the trust of players with this rather than leaving the problem as it was. However “sloppy” feels really accurate…
As I expected, they waited for the 3K release with its new difficulty levels to implement something. I got back my progress exactly as it was before the April patch because I chose not to play the game. This is also why I complained about the lack of communication on the solution they would implement. I understand how unsatisfactory it can be to have progress changed, even it is an (undeserved) upgrade. However, as I mentioned above, if the cost for not losing hundreds of hours of progress accross years for many players is to upgrade a few medals for some people, it’s fine by me.
With all this mess, with the fact that we know it was possible to fix everything taking into account the completion date, I really question the skills and the reliability of the people who implemented all the recent changes. That would be my main concern for the future. Really basic mistakes have been made here, I was not used to see that in that game.

Are the devs going to fix this problem? Otherwise it’s going to be really weird to have Hard medals when I never completed those scenarios on Hard!
It is likely that they won’t. If they would be able fix this specific issue with specific medals for specific players, then they would probably have done it already with the original downgrade bug introduced in the April 10th patch.
