Gray UI elements after update125283

ISSUE EXPERIENCED

After last update all UI elements are gray. See screenshots.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

• 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Start the game with steam
2. Start any match
3. In Lobby or InGame you see gray UI elements.

EXPECTED RESULT

^{What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?}
Before the update everything worked fine.

I’ve restarted AOE2.
I’ve restarted Steam.
I’ve restarted my laptop.
I’ve verified my game files.
I’ve deinstalled the game entirely and reinstalled it after restarting my laptop.

I also don’t run any mods or DLCs. Vanilla game.

I have the exact same issue, tried the same trouble shooting steps: rebooting game, rebooting computer, attempted to restore all settings back to default but nothing helped. Hope this is reviewed and taken care of because the game is impossible to play like this.

The problem lies with changes inside the depot 813782. I did a rollback of a single update to manifest 5680035417519593685 (the patch of April 30th) and everything is up and running again.

I do not know what part of the game now breaks with this rollback, though

Next week its impossible to play for four weeks for a unknown number of players (me included).

The solution cant be to buy a “better” computer
