:backhand_index_pointing_down: DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

When using a Byzantine dromon after Greek Fire has been researched, fire effects are added to the projectiles, which is a great little detail. This includes a fire sound effect after the projectile hits the ground (both attack ground and if you target a unit, but not a building) which is paired with a brief fire animation on the ground. However, unfortunately the fire sound effect continues to play permanently at the site where the shot hit, long after the fire animation has stopped.

Specifically, testing in the scenario editor, I have found that the first shot from a Greek Fire dromon which hits the ground (including if you target a unit, but not a building, and including if the shot lands in water) will create a permanent burning sound effect at the site where it hits, but any subsequent shots don’t. The sound effect is quite noticeable, it gets quieter as you scroll away from the site where the dromon shot hit but can still be heard across most of a Tiny-size map.

:backhand_index_pointing_down: List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptiv e!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Research Greek Fire as the Byzantines.

  2. Create a dromon.

  3. Attack ground with the dromon and listen for the fire sound effect at the site where the shot hit, the fire sound effect never stops playing (should also happen if you target a unit, but not a building).

:backhand_index_pointing_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not prese nt?

The fire sound effect stops playing at about the same time the fire animation goes away.

The fire animation after a Greek Fire Byzantine dromon lands a shot. A burning sound effect also plays, but whereas the fire animation stops shortly after the hit, the burning sound effect plays indefinitely (for the first shot by any Greek Fire dromon, subsequent shots don’t seem to have the issue but the burning sound effect from the first shot can be heard across much of a Tiny-sized map).

Hello,

i was not able to reproduce this issue, could you please upload a video showing the issue?

Hi and thanks for looking into this,

I did record a short video demonstrating the bug and wrote the description below, but the forum prevents me from attaching it to this post, saying that new users can’t upload attachments, so I can’t attach the video to this post until whatever time I’m not considered a ‘new user’ - when will that be? As for reproducing it in the absence of that, it has to be a Byzantine dromon with Greek Fire researched. It helps to reduce music volume to zero. Use attack ground with a Greek Fire Byzantine dromon and stay over the location where the attack ground hit. You’ll be able to hear a burning sound that never goes away.

I’ve recorded a short video demonstrating the bug - the burning sound effect sounds quieter in the recording than it does in game but can still be heard (it may help to listen to the vid on high volume). Immediately after the first dromon attack ground hits, a burning sound can be heard, it doesn’t fade but plays forever. I zoom in and out and scroll away and go back to show the sound is linked to the location where the dromon attack ground first hit, as you get closer to that location, the burning sound increases. I then do the same thing with a second dromon far away from the first, and using attack ground with that dromon doesn’t create the burning sound effect - but the original burning sound effect can still be heard around the map, though gets quieter when further from the place where that initial attack ground hit. This sound effect is only present for a Byzantine dromon after Greek Fire is researched, so the bug can only be reproduced as Byzantines with Greek Fire researched.
