I love greek pantheon and mythology. Honestly, I would prefer a massive “rework” making Athena or Hera a major god and replacing with Demeter or Hestia.
Its just too weird seeing Zeus, Hades, Poseidon and Hestia / Demeter.
One minor problem with giving Hestia Amazon units is that she was never associated with them. Ares was.
There were some who did, but they tended to be gods and monsters.
This explanation doesn’t make any sense. Hades was a more “background” character too and I doubt someone “went to war for Demeter”.
Let’s face it: both work as major gods Demeter and Hestia. One will make it and the other one might come with a second DLC

As of AoM cares for such “minor” things.
But yeah I think if Demeter will be the major god then let Amazons be her special unit. As minor gods there should be defiantly Ares and Artemis. (maybe Apollo or Aphrodite for heroic?) the other new minor gods could be Persephone for obvious reasons and maybe Morpheus/Hypnos?
Maybe they will try doing larger and more expensive Gods Packs.
This way two or more new Major Gods could share some of the new Minor Gods too.
Gaia was always going to war with someone in the myths, what are you talking about?
None other than Heracles fought against Hades at the battle of Pylos where he was worshipped. Not in the abstract sense either. He straight up shot him.

If i remember correctly, people actively avoided saying Hades’s name, giving him epitaphs like “Zeus of the underworld”. It’s part of the reason why the parentage of his children is in question.
You are dismissing mythology in a discussion of a game called Age of Mythology. Just take the L.
If “real people” are the priority, point me to the people who went to war for Hestia.

neither of them are necessary imo. The number 3 is very significant in Greek Mythology and it only makes sense for the three lords of creation to be the three major gods. They don’t need a fourth just because the Norse have one.
Zagreus (When he isn’t Dionysus) and Melinoë are thought to be Hades’ children.
You might know them from a certain popular game series.
Then let’s make it 7 cause seven is also an important number.

Zagreus and Melinoe are traditionally Persephone’s children, but Zeus is usually named as their father. Yes, Persephone has children with her own father.
Only one source names Hades as the father of Zegreus, as far as I know, and I haven’t found any sources that name him as Melinoe’s father. This ambiguity is not unique to Hades, however. The parentage of many gods is questioned.
Hades was worshipped, but saying his name was taboo, as you said. Worshippers would bang their heads on the ground when they prayed to him to ensure that he heard them. He was especially venerated in Elis, Pylos, Caria, Cumae and Thesprotia (the latter two both had oracles).
Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are the three major gods because they were the three most powerful in Greek mythology. They were the three lords of creation, and no other gods were equal to them. The major god suggestions I see people make like Demeter and Hestia were less mythologically significant than many of the game’s minor gods like Athena and Apollo.
I’m not sure why people even want more major gods for existing civs tbh. Freyr is cool and all but I’d much rather see more completely new mythologies. Greek mythology in particular is already over-represented in this game.
