Guys, let's vote for DLC civ you want

It’s not impossible but I think it’s more likely that they work on a bigger DLC with multiple new Civilisations with new mechanics, new maps with new enviroments and new campaigns. Also new minor civilisations and so on.
I wonder how an AoE3 campaign by the Forgotten team will look like. I assume they will be more historical than AoE3 was so far.

Italians, Poles, Austrians (and possible Danes) - Age of Empires III: The European Wars (or other name for this DLC).

Right, but that doesn’t mean it will be released for free lol

Germany can very well divided into two.

  1. Prussia and it’s sphere of influence in Northern Germany (including (Lower) Saxony)
  2. Austria and it’s sphere of influence in Southern Germany

(Switzerland is a different country that was mostly neutral in the AoE3 time frame, doesn’t make much sense to make them payable.)

The Germany in the game is clearly designed after a 30 years war mercenary company. The design in very much HRE and Austria ruled over the HRE for all of AoE3 time frame. Separating the HRE and Austria makes no sense. After Napoleon Austria did focus more on the East and South but AoE3 focuses on the time before that. It’s fin with Hungary and potentially civilisations like Croatia to be revolutionary options for Germany/HRE.
There for it makes sense to add Prussia that had a very different army with a focus on highly trained Line Infantry (Musketeers).

a DLC with 2 new civs just like lords of the west for aoe 2 de & it will not be free .

I’m not suggesting it should be, others are.

I’d rather see imperial Austria under the rule of Maria Theresa. It was then that Austria acquired a peculiar character - multinational. Austria focusing exclusively on Germany seems boring and not unique.

Two options are better:

  • Germany (present Germans, without War Wagon) and Austria
  • Germany (representation of the kingdoms and duchies of Germany, e.g. Bavaria and Saxony), Austrians and Prussia

Germans

Home City:

Nuremberg

Unique units:

Doppelsoldner, Swiss Pikeman and Black Rider

Prussians

Home City:

Berlin (in-game)

Unique units:

Jaeger, Settler Wagon and Engineer (infantry that can build military buildings and walls)

Austrians

Home City:

Vienna

Unique units:

War Wagon, Hajduk, Pandurs and Goral

Uhlan will become a unit replacing the hussar among Prussians, Austrians and Poles.

About persia all is good except 1 thing:
persians never used war elephants in their early modern dynasties:
persian modern dynasties are Safavid - Afsharid - Zand and Qajar which are between 1501 - 1925

Michał Piotr Boym (Chinese: 卜彌格; pinyin: Bǔ Mígé; c. 1612 – 1659) - Polish explorer

This probably one of the most outstanding Polish travelers is today an almost completely forgotten figure. He was born in Lviv in 1612, and after joining the Jesuit Order, he began to prepare for missionary work in the Far East.

In 1643, he set out - along with several other missionaries - from Lisbon to a Portuguese trading post in China, Macau. At that time, there was a civil war in China, and the Polish missionary, thanks to the trust gained at the court of the Yongli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, became the emperor’s envoy. He was entrusted with the important mission of gaining the support of the Pope and European rulers for the Chinese dynasty.

The model of a Polish explorer could look like this (Of course, instead of a bow - firearms).

having 4 cavalry units doesn’t seem like a good idea, people already generally speaking only use 2 cavalry units when they got 3, with 4 it is just going to be worse.

whats the point of having hussars and uhlans when hussars are obviously the superior unit?

and between dragoons and WW you also will always end up with people just choosing the better unit.

seems like a pretty archaic unit for austria to have, tho tbf i dont know much about early austrian army.

i also got to ask what pandurs role is? is it a musketeer or a skirmisher? why does it exist if its only role is to be replaced by a unit everyone else have at the same age?

I would like to see Africans & Polynesians… in AoE II.

Stable

Uhlan
War Wagon (replace from Germans)
Dragoon (Royal Guard)

The Hussar for Austrians is included in the Home City Card.

The Pandur is a ranged heavy gunpowder infantry.

well then go make a thread in the AOE 2 forum :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i for 1 cant wait to see them butcher them like they do with almost all the other factions due to AOE 2s faction design.

No Falconet?
May have trouble in Age 3, then again, Ports also deal with it.

Having a feature for only one type of map would be weird, and not very balanced.
Does a fast Gunpwder Infantry not make Dragoons redundant?
It is better if they do not have Dragoons, or have Mounted Grenadiers instead.

The sponsors also give different economic bonuses. I mean they are sponsors after all.

Not bad, I too went for a naval focus. But added alternatives:

Danish overview
The Danish are focussed on infantry and naval units. They posses the regular cavalry units (Hussar, Dragoon) and the regular artillery (Falconet, Culverin, Mortar, Horse Artillery) but no cards that improve them beyond a base level. They have easy access to fishing boats in the form of shipments, and access to superior cattle shipments for land based maps.

Features
Settler shipments are smaller but provide bonus fishing boats. (or a small 50 wood crate if no naval gather point)
Starts with 200 less resources but starts with a supply wagon that builds into either a Livestock Pen or a Harbour.
Start with the waters explored.

Royal Guard units: Landsoldat (Linjesoldat), Grenadier (Livgarde)

Unique units
Friskytte, a skirmisher that takes reduced damage in melee.
Landsoldat, a musketeer with a weaker melee attack. Gains extra range upon reaching guard status.
Kanonbåd, a naval vessel that acts as a field gun.

Revolutions
Norway
United States

Unique Home city cards:
Inuit Allies: High HP native warriors armed with harpoons(spears) that can use stealth.

-Age I
2 Settlers + 1 Fishing boat
3 Fishing boats
Viking Blood: The Explorer gets +50% HP and attack, and gains an extra axe increasing melee attack speed, also ships an explorer dog.
Danish Red Cattle: Livestock pens slowly spawn cows.

-Age II

5 Fishing Boats
3 Settlers + 2 Fishing Boats
Treaty of Knäred:
-Dominum Maris Baltici: increases the build limit of military vessels. +downside
-Stralsund defense: Ships a number of Scottish Highlander mercenaries. Enables Highlanders in the Saloon.
-Norwegian Ski Infantry: Ships a number of Norwegian Skirmishers and increases the movement speed of all infantry.

-Age III

Snapphane: Friskyttes take reduced damage from artillery and deal increased damage to artillery.
8 Fishing Boats
Älvsborg Ransom: Repeatable fort shipment for a gold cost (max 1 in the field).

-Age IV

Dannebrog!: Units nearby your town centers and outposts gain a damage increase. Allows the explorer to build outposts.
10 Fishing Boats
1 Ironclad
Hire Scottish Highlander mercenaries (repeatable) costs coin
Øresund Dues: Gain a shipment of 300 gold whenever an opponent sends a shipment.
Livgarden til fods: reduces the cost of Grenadiers.

not balanced ofc, I naturally can’t playtest it.

This would likely be just a Royal Guard upgrade to the Crossbowman.

There is already the Mercenary. Perhaps this should be the Condottiero, instead of it being an Infantry unit, that would be too similar to the Rodelero anyway.

Carabinieri?

Heavily doubt it, since the Great Bombard is already the Ottoman UU Cannon, and the Lil’Bombard is the Mercenary version. There is no need for another Bombard.
