After playing Japanese for a few games, one thing which stood out to me is how uncomfortable it is to use Mikos for anything except staying at the shrine. After thinking about it, one of the reasons it feels like that to me seems to be a bug - hero-selection hotkeys (“select hero”, “select all heroes”) don’t work on them at all, not even on the ones not currently at the shrine. I would expect the behavior of the “select all heroes” and “select hero” hotkeys to be consistent with how it treats pharaoh - if he’s busy empowering something, he doesn’t get selected, if he’s idling somewhere, he does get selected.
Technically there is a workaround in the form of “select healer”, “select all healers” hotkeys, but they can be annoying to use as well, as they do select Mikos occupied by the shrines, as well.
I think there should be a comfortable way to select Mikos that are only idling, and “select all heroes” seems like a perfect candidate for this.
Trigger Event:
Playing Japan and trying to control Mikos with hotkeys.
Repro Steps:
Try to use “select all heroes” or “select hero” hotkeys to control Mikos
Realize it didn’t work and Mikos are out of position and about to die against an enemy
Yes, they should have a hotkey or get included in the existing hero hotkeys. If they aren’t working on a shrine there is no way to find them with hotkeys.
Mikos have own hotkey called find a healer… otherwise all your mikos would go to the battle.
Unless the hotkey is updated in order to avoid working mikos and mikos that are already healing.
Right now there is a hotkey to find all healers, find idle healer and cycle healers
Miko is a healer with bonus vs myth units , not sure if is a heroe and was excluded in the hotkey to find heroes in order to avoid bringing them to the battle when they are working or other reason
Of course every player expects find a heroe hotkey finds mikos and that only the mikos that are idle are selected, so would be good a hotkey for that. And other hotkey to find all heroes including all mikos dont matter if they are working
Pharaohs and Priests who are empowering or building obelisks don’t get selected by the “Select All Heroes” hotkey, as OP partially described. So there’s no reason not to include Mikos in the find/select hero hotkeys, as there would be no risk of accidentally sending the ones that are gathering favor to battle.
If Mikos can’t be selected by the “Find Idle Hero” hotkey, then why do idle Mikos appear in the idle hero banner?
It just seems silly to need to set up a separate hotkey for Japanese heroes instead of using the existing ones. And it’s not even a dedicated hotkey for Mikos like the Pharaoh has, but a roundabout one (find healer) that’s shared by the Onmyoji in the same civ.
