Horseman Needs Rework! Am i the only one who feels like horsemans are not that effective against range units, especially long bowman kiting? They should have atleast stun on charge ability against range units or maybe give them auto target range units

Yep right now, in teamgames especially, you won’t win without a good amount of cav.
It’s mobile and can CHOOSE wether to enter a fight or not.
The thing is, the cav, especially heavy cav age2 can choose to LEAVE a fight WITHOUT a punishment because there is no snare.

On top of that, in aoe3 you would get super punished by enemy fast fortress (fast age3) when you’d make heavy melee cav only, because they’d just make some dragoons/ruyts/cav archer or something similar and run down your heavy melee cav, sniping it with HARD HITTING shots AND outrun it.
You’d actually have to quickly counter-react by mixing in ranged light infantry to counter the light ranged cavalry and stopping them from murdering your heavy melee cav.

None of that exists in aoe4.
What does counter heavy melee cav?
Pike and xbow. Both are super slow AND none of them snare the enemy.
What a bullsh**.
Plus you need a huge mass of them to only mildly counter the enemy cav, especially french knights age3.
Spearmen are an almost completely useless unit against anything other than cav, they have no siege.

It also does make no sense, that a maa/knight has same siege dmg output as a scout.
Wtf it’s so much more expensive to train?
What is the logics behind that?
Oh yes, there is none, just Lelic being Lelic

If cavalry is more of a team metagame it’s because of the maps (which are still big) and many players play open maps.

In AoE2 and AoE4 walling is easier on maps than AoE3 and u can repair it with vills (not to mention the skirm-goon and then some cannons meta has always been for years now).

Yeah well, that is another REALLY bad thing.
Why maps so HUGE? Why units attack buildings and NOT units?
Try using attackmove at enemy TC to snipe vills, GG trying… facepalm
And why so many mountrains and choke points? This is bullcrap

In this game you can not rush, you can only try and tickle the enemy and slow him down, whiel booming yourself.
Super boring.

Yep, AOE4 does not have action-packed Micro gameplay like the AOE1,2,3.
AOE 1 and 2 are more micro-intensive, while 3 is graphically fun and balanced well.
AOE4 has nothing.
And that is one major problem.

DOTA, LOL, etc have great in-game action animations, movements, etc.
That makes it fun to play.
But AOE4 has nothing out of AOE1,2,3 and DOTA, LOL.
It just lacks combat.
It is a booming game, like ANNO.
But ANNO is graphically better xD

At this point, I don’t know what Relic is trying to do with AOE4 with this…

Exactly…
And aoe3 (due to super innovative countersystem AND SNARE), had by far the best micro experience and most exciting fights in all aoe1, 2, 3 and 4.
It is just unmatched and aoe2 and aoe4 seems SUPER outdated and technically WAY behind in that regard.

Also, what ewas being said before by other people is wrong.
You can train in batches in aoe3, but the training time for 1 batch is longer than for a single unit in aoe4.
Also, the units take HUGE amount of popultion, huss take 2 pop cuirs take 3, falcs take 5 and I think bombards take even more.
Vills are limited to 99, dutch vills even less.
TCs can only be built in age3 onwards and it takes a huge amount of wood.
Mills and plantations are super expensive and offer slow gathering, that means you HAVE TO go out on map and take mines and defend hunts.

All this is missing in aoe4.

So again, if you lose your army in aoe3 and hence lose map control, you are screwed.
Micro is super important here, if not more important than eco.
Your overall eco in early/mid game is WAY lower (vill cost 100f and take longer to train and you can’t build 2nd tc in age2!!!), whereas units seem expensive age2/3.
If you lose them (and you will lose them if you run into enemy!!! bc snare!), you are screwed.
Going 50 archers into 20 hussairs? Good bye archers, all of them RIP while half the huss survive.

In aoe4, 50 archers against 20 horsemen?
Just run back to town in untouchable godmode and them screw the remaining ones in your town between buildings.
The cav will anyways get stuck on attacking buildings and won’t fight your archers, TC does the rest.

In aoe4 is spam spam spam spam spam spam and don’t even watch your units.
No need to build counter-unit to defend the rest of the army.
So damn sad…

If they don’t fix this asap and bring in snare, I’m out of this game.
Unfortunately I can’t refund.

I would be interested in knowing your player level, since making the comparison of 20 horsemen (2400 value) vs 50 archers (4000 value) at least you must have more than 30 horsemen (33 is the number of horsemen for the same value approx). Man, I blow up all or almost all the archers before you reach your base.

I have had a medium high elo in AoE3. I am not going to comment on that, for example, 50 crossbowmen lose miserably against 20 hussars (4000 value vs 4000 value) and half of the hussars remain alive, because it is absolutely ridiculous.

rider has double damage against archer, but it costs more and takes longer, who does not have a good management of the economy obviously will not produce riders constantly, put 8 in food for each stable and that’s it
