Playing as aztecs?? All we get is countered culverin, paper skirms and low HP hussars
with aztec you lost there but i would suggest arrow knights,spear throwing anti cav knights and runner guys
Currently, how do the Aztecs perform in the 40 and 60 minute treaty? How has been the experience of those who have played them in those modes? the eztecs are so below average, are they good, are they strong or are they OP?
They are considered top tier in treaty at the moment. This is a current tier list for a tournament made by some of the top treaty players on the AOEMC Discord. Personally, I couldn’t tell you myself why they are, but having played against them at some points, they have good eco, strong melee units, and eagle runner knights negate any sort of cavalry option you have, while holding their own to skirms
thanks for the information. I understand that ideally all civilizations should be A or B; the S need a nerf and the rest a buff. So the Aztecs need a treaty nerf. Is the current JPK okay or is the nerf required in other aspects?
Hahahahahahahahaha, more??? JPK of course have to been nerfed but everything else in their roster is mostly unusable. All of their units have been nerfed but coyotes (who are changed each patch too).
The best spot was before AR DLC, where they can used mortars to take down walls and attack with coyotes, since their pop cost nerf they arent that usefull
Economic wise they were too since fertility dance is slower on villagers while their coin crates are slower than everyone else ones.
I am reflecting on it. I consider that the Aztecs are below the average in treaty. But I’m trying to see from the perspective of other players (especially if they are “top treaty players”.). I’ve been asking players for their opinion on the Aztecs in my treaty games and so far they have responded that the Aztecs are strong in treaty.
I ask about the nerfs the Aztecs need not because I want the Aztecs to be nerfed but to know if they really deserve to be nerfed.
I don’t understand why many of the best players consider the Aztecs as an S civilization, whereas an S civilization should be at least good in the worst case scenario and too strong in most scenarios and I consider the Aztecs to be bad against Mexico ( Especially against the Mayans; they are completely useless against the Mayans or were if the new JPK changes that fact.) and they were against civilizations that can easily train giant grenadiers.
The disadvantages that I consider that the Aztecs have in treaty:

They do not have cannons or grenadiers, nor any units that do area damage from a distance.

They have no equivalent to musketeers.

His “skirmisher” is one of the most fragile skirmishers in the game and does not have an equivalent to Counter Infantry Rifling technology.

They do not have an equivalent to Military Drummers technology.

The economy of them coins is weak.

they do not have access to mercenaries.
The reasons that I consider may be the cause of the Aztecs being an S civilization in treaty:

ERKs are one of the best units against cavalry and can deal with infantry much better than dragons.

have the strongest Community Plaza (although other Native American civilizations have access to the community plaza and armory technologies.).

AKs are one of the best units at removing cannons.

JPKs slaughter most heavy melee infantry, perform almost like a halberdier against cavalry, have good siege and a base speed of 5.

pumas reach six speed and are very good against cavalry and in siege.
Some of their disadvantages are supposed to be offset by some of their advantages (for example, they don’t have musketeers but having ERK is better than having musketeers, they don’t have cannons but AKs take out enemy cannons, etc.). But the question is if it is correctly balanced.
So, you are asking how to counter Regulars + goons + Coffee Mill Gatling guns?
Because coffee mill gatling guns are so outrageously OP and kill units so fast, I would say you would need 100% arrow knights upgraded with every possible upgrade card Aztecs have + 25 on firepit attack dance. If you can sneak in some Jaguar Prowl Knights in steath mode so they get on top of the units, or hold them back out of range and stealth to defend the arrow knights from cav, maybe you could try that, but honestly the gatlings will delete them so quickly they won’t be able to do any damage before that happens.
Me think the unique part of Aztec that can be considered OP in treaty would be their big button enable them to have 1 time only push with more than 200 pure military unit.
When those BB tech researched after reaching max 200 pop, 3 TC big button, and the other 30minute BB equal to 91 military unit, then there is 17 maya + 17 zapotec and 12 jaguar pet make the number to 137 extra unit.
If that push fail then it’s back to ERK/AK combo again, and the aztec start to struggle again
