How does Handicap work?

It says ‘setting a handicap will increase the gathering rates of a player’.

Which is EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT A HANDICAP IS.

So it starts at +0 and goes up. If you increase it to 10% does that mean it gives your units 10% higher gathering rate? So it’s a good thing for that player?

Or does setting to +10 increase your HANDICAP which is what it says it’s doing?

So if I want to knock down a player do I increase his Handicap? Or will that help that player?

The slider only improves things, so 10% would mean a 10% increase in gather rate, or 1.1*(base gather rate)

I think I read somewhere that it also increases buildings HP, and research times for the user, but that’s up for testing.

Btw, also found the title a bit confusing, changing “handicap” to “economy bonus” might improve readability…

Not sure about that (haven’t used it in a long time), but I think it boosts crate yields.

Gather rate increases as well as gather yields I know for sure are effected by handicap in legacy AoE III so I assume it is the same in AoE III DE
