Mate monks die easily, and are targeted first, putting you out of pocket, a competent player can abuse the market early and have castle left, right center if they wished. Leitis are trained twice as fast as pal’s, nearly 30% faster than cam’s, but are COST EFFICIENT; meaning they win in terms of resources (gold) in the long run. So I doubt they can be outnumbered with those figures
-Leitis need Castles, Paladins do not.
-Leitis melt under Castle and TC fiore, Paladins do not.
-Leitis is easily countered by Ranged units, Paladins are not.
3 reason why Paladins are better than Leitis.
And if the arbs back into a hiding spot where you can’t attack many of them at once, which is a very common tactic (stack into a woodline or between buildings) which is going to be more beneficial? Your 3 or 4 units that can attack 2 shotting them or longevity? I’ll answer based on evidence from pro games. Longevity will matter more.
- and 3. are not true lol
You won’t attack them
Twice as fast as paladins but require a castle vs a stable. One costs 650 stone and one costs 175 wood. Hmmm…
Really? 2 stables can outnumber a single castles worth of production. So unless you’re really skimping on stables you should be fine on production of camels.
Its good you bring up gold vecause lithuanians literally do not get the final gold upgrade, so that extra 10g per camel isn’t such a big deal. Lithuanians literally have one of the worst ecos in thd game.
But don’t trust me. Go run the tests yourself and tell me who wins.
So I just leave the arbs and then they continue being a pain again. Good job!
Depends on the situation. Seen plenty of pros using paladin over leitis vs archer comps. I wonder why that is.
If leitis are so dang overwhelming powerful how come lithuanians are sitting at 47% winrate? Oh wait. My bad old numbers. 46% winrate
Even at 1250 to 1650 they are only 48% winrate.
- You can make Flying Shield skirms if 1v1
- You delete your building
- Then Cavaliers are useless vs Arbs
- true. But point is against archers id still rather have paladins. Much more durable.
- what if its not my building? What if it’s a wood line?
- sometimes you have to attack. But the fact is if im facing archers id rather have paladin over leitis.
Cavaliers ARE useless vs Arbs. Civs with Cavalier only, never make them to counter Arbalests.
Instead, they make Elite Skirmishers, Onagers or Siege Rams.
Yup, these Cavalier civs don’t even make Ballista Elephants, Battle Elephants or Orjan Guns to counter archers instead preffering generic ESkirms and Rams!
Even the Indians prefer ESkirms to counter archers despite having a UU whose purpose is to be anti archer.
Funny because khmer makes those first two all the time.
Neither of those are good at countering Arbalests. Organ Guns are just too expensive and die too fast, and BEs are just too slow.
Inneficient, but can get the job done, if you do not mind losing a few, while Skirms would trade much better. Also, only available for a single civ.
But not to counter Arbalests.
Pro’s won’t let Lith’s boom, and as you said, they have bad eco, which make up for their strong unit, but gold is limited, so the final gold upgrade doesn’t impact that much. Turtling is my fav strategy so i might be biased here, I was a 1300 elo player on HD, but managed to beat a 1700 elo player. Lil bit like fatslob. Their op given the player knows how to boom well, and just fast enough to abuse the market. There only true counter is archer, and I just did a test, 60 elite leitis (no relic) vs 60 Viking post-imperial arbalester , in a town. 7 leitis died, may they rip. Not incuding unique units tho, I’m sure there’s some rippers tho, Leitis are beast.
Good luck killing Elephants withs Arbs. You can’t even kill Malay elephants
Its almost like they arent an anti archer unit.
So why not fix those. And other such not-justifying-castle-production UUs.
Because they do not need fixing. All Ports need is the Gold discount increase, which would sort out a lof of issues, including Organ Gun pricing.
Their a lategame civ, imo, given the opportunity.
So 60 archery range units vs 60 cadtle units. What was the arb player doing with his time that it was a 60 vs 60 fight? 2 castle production vs 3 archery range? In imperial age of all things?
Did you micro those archers at all? Also. Do that same test with 60 paladins.
