I am a 1203 ELO player who is proficient with all civilizations. I mean this to say that I’m not just some random noob throwing out casual talk.
I watched the live stream of Age of Empires IV’s release, and I also appreciate the community’s invitations to me. What I mean by this is: gameplay style is more important than game balance.
Now, back to the topic: when the Mongols were released, and in their campaign, we could feel their unique movable buildings—an absolutely groundbreaking design! But in reality, during intense matches, this feature is almost useless, or at best, very limited. Players almost always stay at their starting location.
Therefore, I boldly propose the following changes:
Mongol Landmarks should NOT be movable. This prevents players from hiding a soon-to-be-destroyed landmark unpredictably right before they lose. The Golden Landmark could be changed to a global effect, or instead grant a “decoy” version that is non-landmark and movable. Similarly, at the start of the game, a non-movable Landmark could be provided to replace the TC, while also providing a movable TC that is originally meant for the start.
To better reflect the Mongols’ migratory nature, the yurt used for resource collection could be able to garrison villagers (up to 10), protecting them and transporting them to safety.
These are all my suggestions.
