Huntress Axe upgrade of Skadi should be reworked (almost same effect like ballistcs)

Huntress Axe (150 gold, 20 favor, 40 sec) gives +1 Range and .99 Tracking Rating for Throwing Axemans.

Ballistics (200 wood, 200 gold, 50 sec) gives .99 Tacking Rating for all ranged soliders including Throwing Axemans. (Throwing Axeman, Godi, Watch Tower and TC).

Huntress Axe costs almost as much as a Frost Giant and used to give TA’s +20% attack. Any effect then the recent one would be better then .99 tracking rating again, which do nothing for TA’s beside one range if Ballistics is already researched. Right now i would recommend to only get ballistics and save the favor for other things.

I did several testings in the editor to confirm this information. TA’s do not get “better” accurancy if you apply both upgrades.

Ranged units in general are busted right now in bigger numbers with ballistics so +10% damage and +2 range would be enough i think.

The description makes it sound like it does have a different effect, is that just wrong?

Yes it sounds different but the effect is .99 Tracking Rating on both. The description is also wrong, if a unit is very fast via trigger or cheats the axe will still miss. It is just Ballistics in disguise.

Well after some additional tests it seems like Huntress Axe actually gives even more accurancy then Ballistics, but it is very hard to recognize. I could not see that in my first test but Recon mentioned it in his unique Tech Guide. That was the reason why i further investigated.

If you look at the techtree.xml you will find that Huntress Axe doesn’t just apply 99 tracking it also gives “HomingBallistics”, something that normal Ballistics doesn’t give.
Normal Ballistics just predicts the future position of a unit so you can theoretically dodge it by changing direction.s
Huntress Axe makes the Axe follow the target even if it changes directions.

Not sure if that has any real effect though because how makes their units constantly change directions while moving.

Yea, thx, never knew about the “techtree.xml”. Good to know. When i made an additional test the Huntress Axe TA’s were hitting more precise when a unit changed directs (tested it with Raiding Cav.). It can still miss but it hits more precise then with Ballistics.

If it makes the Axe literally never miss then its ok, but if its just an improved balistics then they should remake this tech, as it makes it redundant in most situations.

If they don’t want to make a unique effect like a frost slow or something like this, they can simple give the +% damage back and with the extra range it will already by a good upgrade.

I’m always in favour of buffing Skadi though.
She should totally be a Major god tbh.

Make Huntress Axe do some cold damage of 0.1 per second for 3 seconds that ignore armor. Because of just getting 1 range and the same kinda thing Ballistics give I don’t like using Skadi in AoMR.

yes the effect of additional accurancy that you get, when you already have ballistics is very small. Maybe snare or frost damage something like this would be nice to have! I think Thor might be the major user of this tech since odin mostly goes for njord trees. So a bit more power for Thor vs Odin/Loki would be usefull!
