Also to consider is, that increased starting ressources basicly achieve the same thing (speeding up the early game)

I really like this idea.
They could make an Arabia and a hideout/arena like map and with 6 starting Vils and add it to the pool. People can block it if they want, but gives them a chance to try it.
They could for example one month rotate out runestones for Arabia(+3 Vils) and the next month rotate out hideout for hideout (+3vils) depending on popularity they could implement more versions of it in the pool
