Man, reddit is a cesspool of clowns with overblown ego, you really should not take it seriously in general. And especially in case of AoM’s subreddit the amount of people who have no clue what they’re talking about, but have huge egos and very loud opinions on everything, seems to be much worse compared to other subreddits where I lurk.
And mentioning AI is a sure way to get downvoted into oblivion on reddit. Hating on AI-generated stuff is popular these days, so ppl will just downvote/shittalk anything AI-related without a second thought (or any thought at all, for that matter), regardless of how exactly you used AI.
If you want to find actually decent AoM-related communities, right now your best bet is looking up discord servers of AoM streamers (for example, boit’s discord).

AI is cool. Right now it is just a tool to make humans more productive. Farmworkers hated farm machines and actors CGI for taking their jobs.
My constructive comment on this matter is that AoM should have AI options on editor. AI voice acting for example. This is great example of something that enables people to do something they couldnt do previously; Create maps with custom voice lines.
Reddit people well.. Arent the smartest people, they hate or love anyone based on public opinion (Elon Musk/Keanu Reeves) painting them into demons or angels even though they are just average people. But yea, Reddit/Twitter are mainstream now so average person there is basically some guy who started drinking at 14 and ruined their brain

And you can’t be saying Elon is “just an average person” after what he did on live television.
Stop pretending people have no legitimate reason for disliking AI. People on this thread alone have stated multiple times why it is bad.

Productivity claims aside, the main issue with AI is resource consumption. And that affects everyone including clueless gamers, as your electricity and water bills will increase (as will for everyone else) causing inflation and making everything else more expensive.

I know exactly what you meant, I’m calling you out for implying people have no good reason for hating AI and are just chasing a trend. You’re clearly doing it again.
Then don’t assume people’s reason for disliking AI, especially when people have been extremely unambiguous about it.
I need to tell you something: nobody likes AI-generated art in general, also on Reddit. Especially since AoM Retold received a lot of negative criticism at launch for having used at least several AI-generated artworks. The game is quite expensive for them not to have the decency to hire a human artist to create the art.
That is probably why you received so much criticism for your AI-based suggestion.

i think what you wrote wasn’t hard to misunderstand. i think your opinion is neutral and objective and i like that.
“Hating on AI-generated stuff is popular these days” is anything but neutral. The wording implies people shit on it as part of a trend.
thats kind of you to join the discussion and i appreciate you share your thoughts aswell but:
- i already pointed out most comments where more personal attacking and critised the “sexuality” more than the actual “AI threat” - but you might be right that this is the reason i got just downvoted which is fine for me cause i partly understand it the reasoning.
- i do this AI stuff to share my thoughts, feedback and suggestions in a quantity and quality way. so that ppl immediately see what i want to point out or suggest without writing tons of text and posts and ppl might still struggly to get the idea, overread it etc. also visual feedback is always better cause most ppl are more visual - which means more ppl understand you and what you want to see changed etc better, it reaches them better on a potential emotional and imagination level and cause of that most can vibe with it more easily.
i also think - as some mentioned already - its no “AI slop” (and i would even go that far that its better than most placeholder images they shared with us before offical release.
i already ponted out my opinion and i think members like leroy-jenkinsh and Melinoe brought it to a good objective/unbiased point of view.
about the “they should be able to effort a human artist” point: i hope you are right. and i was against AI images too when i saw most of the pre-release images but when AI can actual make better images on a quantity level than a potential human artist (no hate just my personal taste) and without creating the risk of giving the maybe one potential human artist a burn-out, i would then prefer AI over a human artist - at the moment at least. but thats just my personal opinion i can - as mentioned also partly understand guys like @RatcicleFan but i think he is a bit too “aggressive” and tries to provoce which i think is NOT the right approach even i understand that sometimes you actual have to get emotional especially if its spontaneous situation.

Reddit people and ratciclefan are just luddites, best to ignore them. Luddites never achieved anything with their movements, and these people are even worse; they only know how to rant or have a tantrum. Nothing less, nothing more. I still think AI is an unsustainable bubble, but even when it bursts, it will remain as a significant tool. Btw, I lost all my translation jobs to AI, so AI already negatively affected me. These days, I make edits for those translations for less money to make them more authentic and human-like, but it is what it is. Best to adapt the flow instead of being drowned.

Nobody who is anti AI is afraid of the fact you know the word “luddite”. And everyone who is anti AI art is anti AI translations, because they make mistakes and are generally untrustworthy.
And this non-logic is part of why I hate AIbros so much. You’re not being brave by surrendering to AI and pretending this abomination is acceptable.

You know the ‘CPU’ you’re playing against is an AI, right? the ‘CPU’ opponent is not a tiny person living inside your monitor!! If you’re going to hate something, at least try to understand how it works first!. Imagine playing an RTS and claiming you’re ‘anti-AI.’ That’s like saying you love tennis but hate rackets. Good luck playing against a wall, because without AI, you don’t have a game.

Hey genius, did you know a lot of unrelated things are called AI?
The script that makes the enemies and NPCs move in games is not the same as Generative AI which is not the same as sentient robots from fiction? It’s almost like it’s a meaningless buzzword that tech companies like. Why the hell would I have a problem with EVERYTHING these assholes call AI?
Even machine learning doesn’t exclusively mean GenAI, most likely Altman and his cronies are purposely trying to blur the differences between all things called AI.

It’s the worst website on the internet.
People post hurtful things or unfunny jokes just to get likes.
The worst part is when you get banned. They ban you for the most ridiculous reasons:
- Any joke can be treated as hate speech.
- Any discussion about Civs and historical representation can be treated as racism.
It’s a terrible website. It pretends to be a place for jokes, but deep down, most moderators have political biases and will look for any excuse to ban people they don’t like or who don’t share their political views.
On AoE4 Reddit and AoE3 Reedit, the modders are communists and social justice warriors. I know this firsthand; you can’t imagine the crap these jerks spout in the chat.
The best thing to do is rant about the site, and whenever you try to criticize, censor your words with “#######”, because seriously, EVERYTHING is an insult to them, even saying “Rekt” or “Black sheep of the family” (they classify this expression as racism, WTF!!! just for saying the word Black).
And to ones who says that Modders of Reddit are IAs… no, this is a lie. Many of them are True people. The only iA than works in reddits are those of the Adds and publicity (which lately has become more and more tedious) but normally, most of the bans are work of s##### a##### r###### true modders.

AI is great. Only Hollywood can afford 100M+ $ budgets to make flashy movies. AI will make it 100 times cheaper and allow any millionaire from small country to do them.
Same applied to you people. AI will allow you to create games or videos you needed team for before.
And once AI goes physical, self driving taxis will be 5 times cheaper, traffic jams will be gone and you can have robots capable of doing tough tasks like reaching spots or gathering samples you couldnt before.
Since AI is self learning you wont need to have several 1M$+ costing robots for each task but one robot can do all cleaning, laundry and such for you.
AI will also replace construction workers, janitors and such. This means you can build and maintain a palace for fraction of a price it costs currently.
Anybody that hates AI just lacks imagination on how to use it to improve their own life. You shouldnt hyperfocus on AI drawing 1 picture but on what is the end product you can make with it.
In next 50 years, we are about to witness increase in quality of life that is bigger than what we saw in past 200 years. Every human will have access to building or operating anything. It will be like internet, but physical.

1).- It’s not “your” art version of Demeter, it’s “an” AI-generated art version of Demeter.
I don’t mind people using AI to create images, but assuming those AI-generated images are your own work or expecting people to “congratulate” you for uploading them, as if you were an artist, is unethical.
The real artist is ChatGpt, or whatever AI you used to create it.
2).- I didn’t like the image you uploaded for several reasons:
Demeter isn’t a sexy, young goddess for one reason: because she’s a “MOTHER,” and moreover, the Mother Goddess of plant life.
Her lore includes being the Mother of Demeter and of plants. She’s also angry because her daughter was kidnapped.
