I am sorry but this game sucks... I am returning to aoe2

If possible, I’d also like to hear a few words about why these issues have gone unfixed for months. When it came to buffing the Jin Dynasty, though, the development team seemed to work as if their salaries depended on it.

Yeah sure, a pleasure to share my opinion:

Look, a few months ago (May 5, 2026), they made a “substantial” change to Zhu Xi—specifically, a rework of the civilization’s feudal landmarks.

Jiangnan Tower (Age II): When this landmark first launched, it was incredibly broken. The resource generation from the Meditation Garden (Age II) allowed you to produce an absurd number of military buildings—and consequently, free units—during the Feudal Age (Age II). You could then use those same military buildings to churn out massive numbers of units and win simply through sheer force of numbers.

The issue was that when they nerfed the Meditation Garden’s original yield (4 months after the DLC of 2023), they over-nerfed the Jiangnan Tower. It lost much of its purpose; after all, there’s no point in building extra military structures if you aren’t going to use them constantly.

Anyway, to fill that gap, they implemented a rework in May 2026:

  • Jiangnan Tower: It now allows for the production of “free troops” if the military buildings within its influence zone produce a sufficient number of units. It remains useful throughout the entire match, especially in the late game when you start mass-producing troops.

  • Meditation Garden: It no longer generates immediate yields but instead focuses on the late game by increasing the amount of natural resources in an area, thereby reducing the distance villagers have to travel to gather them.

Those changes—a true “rework”—happened just five months ago (May 7, 2026). It was a significant move, but also a bit of a gamble to see how players would value the new Zhu Xi. People loved the changes, but because it was experimental, it wasn’t immediately clear if it was broken or not—though that became apparent in the win rates among pros:

However, the last season—and especially the most recent tournament—revealed just how broken it actually is:

In the recent EGC Master torunament, EVERYBODY wanted to ban ZhuXi, and the only game played with ZhuXi has 1 win. Yeah, that’s how scary this civs is for Pros.

It is clearly overpowered (OP) now, particularly based on recent matches. Even at the top competitive level, May lost to Zhu Xi several times because the opponent simply outproduced him in units. In fact, it is only recently—truly recently—that people are realizing just how powerful it is, thanks to the latest builds that have been discovered. And those taking advantage of this obviously won’t want to criticize their winning formula; that would be counterproductive, because they know it’s going to get nerfed (hehehe, that’s the real reason).

So, the question arises: How do you balance it?

Zhu Xi Balance

The thing is, regardless of that, Zhu Xi is S-Tier; it was S-Tier before the rework, and it remains so.

Contrary to what Vortix says, the issue isn’t just Zhu Xi, but China as a whole—which he himself ranks as the third-best civ in the game. And if you look at the “first 4 variants” group, there’s clearly a shared trait that makes both of them incredibly strong.

I’d say it comes down to mass unit production—specifically, the Imperial Officials. The reality is that if your military production is superior and you can outnumber your rival, it doesn’t matter if they have gold units or a Fast Castle strategy; both civs possess a bonus that is completely broken compared to others. Here’s a comparison:

  • Zhu Xi Official: +150% military production, 1 FREE at the start of the game, MAX: +600% (4 buildings)

  • Zhu Xi Official (Regional Inspection): +300% military production (Red Seal: 6 officials = 1800% = 4.5x Burgraves!!!)

  • China Official: +150% unit production, MAX: 4 officials x 4 buildings = +600%

  • HRE (Burgrave): +400% unit production (Melee infantry only; Age III Landmark choice)

  • Delhi: +100% military production; requires unlocking a technology, usually around the 4-minute mark. Doesn’t operate at the same speed regarding technologies.

  • Byzantines: +100% military production; requires 5 cisterns (500s), building aqueducts, and maintaining an influence zone. As you can see, the military production capabilities of Zhu Xi’s officials far surpass those of other civilizations, given that the feature is available for free right from the first age—and you even start with a free official at the 0:00 mark. While you could build a barracks in the Dark Age for an early rush, it isn’t worth it; it is more efficient to advance quickly to the second age and launch the rush from there.

Recommendation: I would nerf the military unit production for both China and Zhu Xi. I’d reduce their bonus—say, from 150% down to 100% or 75%. Alternatively, the power could scale across ages (75%, 100%, 125%, 150%), or the production boost in the Feudal Age could require a unique technology—setting the base bonus at 100% and restricting it to China (via the Imperial Academy), while Zhu Xi has their own in the landmark Mount Lu Academy (that would be 100 → 200%).

No, i say they need a countermeasure “aggainst them” in case of feudal rush. READ AGAIN.

And no, I’m not talking about giving them men-at-arms—it’s a different matter if you believe that’s the only solution and that anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong, but well, I would debate that, were it not for what you said next:

Is that a threat? I recommend you to read aggain the forum rules.

And you haven’t proposed any solution. And that’s what you threatened me over. Calm down a bit, okay?

That can mean many things. You shouldn’t assume that just because someone says an argument needs a resolution, that resolution must be the one you favor.

You are making a logical error:

  • You think, “A problem needs an answer, and it is X”;
  • I say, “X isn’t the answer—though yes, the problem needs an answer, just not X”;
  • And you say, “You’re contradicting yourself because the only answer to A has to be X,” followed by an insult.

I repeat: you do not have the authority on this forum to censor anyone, especially when you are making a logical error of such magnitude. And trying to spin your words only digs you in deeper.

Just apologize, and everything will be fine.

I explained why— but if you ignored it, that is your problem. If you persist with circular arguments, I will simply report you for spam.

Just apologize, and everything will be fine.

I read it you said they will upset the balance here your words

No im just saying you are incapable to make comment you just said opposite of what you defended and dont try to deny it,its obvious.

What I actually want to know is why, with everything being so painfully obvious, the development team has apparently been sitting on their hands for months instead of fixing any of this.

Oh, about that, I wanted so get some images, but there was a problem to upload them some hours ago, but now is fine. I updated my last post:

Those changes of ZhuXi—a true “rework”—happened just 5 months ago (May 7, 2026).

It was a significant move, but also a bit of a gamble to see how players would value the new Zhu Xi. People loved the changes, but because it was experimental, it wasn’t immediately clear if it was broken or not—though that became apparent in the win rates among pros:

Bad win RateS (May-June 2026)

Bad Win rate for Conqueror IV 1vs1 beetween May12-June1. So, with the new Changes, ZhuXi was nerfed???

ZhuXi, the feat of the Civ began (September 2026)

Aparently, but the recent months, some ZhuXi builds were so good, that Pros began to fear that civ. This last season—and especially the most recent tournament—revealed just how broken it actually is:

In the recent EGC Master tournament, EVERYBODY wanted to ban ZhuXi, and the only game played with ZhuXi has 1 win. Yeah, that’s how scary this civs is for Pros.

And in the middle ELO scale, ZhuXi es the 2nd best civ to scale to Diamond.

So, in this case, we recently can say that Pros says that is OP, and normal players in genral say the same. but recently, in september, so, the devs, only recently (weeks), have prubs to say that this civ, maybe need a Nerf.

And well, the other thing, to confirm, which is the best way to nerf it. Because is a complex thread, maybe we could make another to discuss that, to see if somebody says the contrary, that is not a OP civs or something.

One thing that we can do is spread the word. Is there are no thread to talk about that, maybe they never knew it.
