I do not understand how people are still playing AOE2DE

have to add another defficiency that kills my interest really fast with aoe4, drag select not locking the camera in place like basically every other RTS game that ever released, that combined with close zoom out is poison to play with

these are ofc my gripes with aoe4 specifically, but ofc it may not bother others, which is fine, but they shouldn’t go unnoticed regardless

Which is why I said if. As said, having individual skins is something doable but most likely low on the priority list. Remember, there are ppl asking for an architecture change for the Persians for over a year now.

Well yep, they included Koreans to attract Starcraft players and also considered Tibetans. But at the same time they thought about adding Habsburgs as a faction whose ideas most likely went into the Spanish.

Yeah of course.

Yes. But as Ensemble also opted for Gameplay/Balance over realism, Chinese never had gunpowder and got Blockprinting only in Definitive Edition and the old campaigns partly take large liberties in their narration.

That’s also due to gameplay and balance reasons and a learning from AoE 1 where only a small selection of civs (e.g. Carthago) had access to the flaming ship. Still, some AoE 2 civs don’t have Fire Ships such as Vikings because their Long Boats take that role.

Same here. Nothing against 4  you too mate!

In fact, another reason for AoE2’s popularity is that it’s easier to release DLCs, they already have a working model for storytelling campaigns, and they’re constantly innovating.

I’m currently playing Chronicles of Greece, which I’d be bold enough to say has the best naval system out of all 5 games. I bought it exclusively to see this scene from:

300 IN AGE OF EMPIRES, CANON!

Yes, you have so many campaigns that you don’t need to play multiplayer… with the rest of Age games that doesn’t happen…

Yes, that is, post-Wc3 mechanics…

Yes, in Europe Portugal, Spain, Vikings and Poland; in Asia Viyanagara and the SEA civs plus Korea…in America, Mississippians, Aztecs, Mayans and Incas… and finally in Africa, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe…

Yes, the campaigns should come out like in AoE 2:

England: The Normans (1066-1217)

France: The Hundred Years’ War (1351-1450)

Central Europe: The Rise of Moscow (1238-1552)

Russia: The Mongol Empire (1213-1273)

Egypt: The Sultans Ascend (1111-1426)

Yes, also that it is a single tech tree for all civs…

Yes, but that’s how it is…

Yes, I like more the modern RTS but i play the CNCs from the 90s too…

Yes, they are probably like the Incas and Aztecs of AoE 3, but keeping the battering rams to knock down the walls…

Yes, I would like them to make Chronicles DLCs for 3 and 4 too…

In theory there are 6… everyone always forgets about poor AoEO…
