It happened to me twice already, last time yesterday (1 player on Xbox pc profile on each team) and all 4 players from the other team could hear us all (even the other 3 players playing on Steam) while we could not hear any of the 4 other players (not even the one on Xbox pc profile, but not sure whether they were on voice chat or not). First time a few days ago, I could hear all of them (1 on Xbox and 3 on Steam) and the one on Xbox could only hear me and not my 3 team mates who play on Steam.
Please do your best to fix this as it is very annoying. Thank you.

Please fix it ASAP. Half of the games i hear my opponents and it’s annoying. I tell them to turn off the microphone. Wiretapping is illegal, you know? You send someones private talks without their knowledge to other people!

Any update on this? it’s so annoying, can’t believe it’s almost been a month now. Just spent a whole game troubleshooting it with players from the other team. In the end we just all had to be quiet and use text comms in game.

Both teams in different discord channels with friends and none of us could even talk or the other team would know what we were doing, it’s comically bad

Welp this just happend to me and a friend out of nowhere we have been playing the game for last week or 2 and this never happend and today it appeared had to mute the entire game. me on windows friend on xbox.
Why have something like this in-game with no option to turn it off in the first place??

This is happening to me as well. I hear the Age of Empires game chat (enemies included) even when I’m in Xbox party chat. I am on PC using Xbox live. My friends also in the party on Xbox do not hear the enemies in Age of Empires game chat. It seems like I’m only hearing enemies who are on Xbox or Xbox live.

Any news? It’s so annoying. I hear keyboard typing, radio broadcast, dogs barking etc. Yesterday someone was burping for about 5 minutes. I always ask players to turn off microphone but not everybody is polite. Today someone told me that this is my strategy to win games lol.

bump, this is still a seriously annoying issue rendering the game unplayable.

This is still happening, please fix.
As a work around you can disable microphone access in Windows Settings to AOE2.

For about 2-3 weeks it was ok, i assumed it was fixed but no. The bug is still there. It is not a glitch, it’s a crime. The players are unaware that they are being eavesdropped. I guess it’s time to report it to some kind of law enforcement.

It’s been a few months since the last post and five months since Felizon89 said the team is working on it. I play AoEII with my kids, and because we kept having problems with the Microsoft Store version, I downloaded the Steam version for my youngest child. She can’t hear our voice chat at all since the rest of us have the Windows Store version.

Would like the ability to

  1. Turn voice chat on/off

  2. Easily select in the game whether to have voice chat with Everyone or just Team Members

  3. Have this feature work regardless of platform (Windows Store or Steam).

Any updates? Has anyone else heard anything?

I’m using the Xbox PC version of AOEII: DE on Windows 10 and this issue still persists. Has there been any progress on getting this issue resolved? Looking at initial post date this has been a known issue for over a year.

I play the Microsoft Store version of the game on PC, and while most people have thankfully turned off their mics in ranked play, the issue still persists.
