what freaking giants ROFL, their knights are bigger looking because they have massive gilded armor along with their horses. So many excuses for close to magical stuff but bigger armor is the problem, incredible
You are giving the worst civ in the game shit for having upscaled models?
Their knight is exactly how it needs to be, considering its the strongest and most heavily armored knight in the game.
I don’t see the need for them to make units bigger, they are not giants lol, AOE IV already entered fantasy territory with Jean divine powers… Now she is a villager, hunter, woman at arms and a God
Are you actually denying that the models use a different scale? It’s not as pronounced as the Clan of the Ox in Northgard with whom I conflated them right when I first saw then announced, and in taking these screenshots I got a little bit more accepting, because they did it somewhat subtle, but it’s definitely there.
I had heard that their units were larger than the base ones, and even AgeofNoob mentioned it, but I had yet to see clear evidence of it until now.
Thanks for the image, now it’s really clear to me how big they are.
With the infantry you could say that the soldiers of the Order of the Dragon are wearing platform boots, very thick armor for appearance, or that the order only admits men over 1.90 tall (similar to the Prussian Giant Guard), and with the cavalry they use some breed of horse that is fat or on ######### (“asteroids” jeje).
The unit are bigger to help players evalutate which side is stronger, making units bigger helps with that visually since they are worth more.
The size aren’t completely unrealistic, they are nowhere near giants, simply some taller men but still realistic, maybe the order enlisted tall and large people only to fight. The horse isn’t unrealistic either, selective breeding was a thing and they could make bigger war horses this way, there are also species of horse bigger than others. The size different isn’t huge. It could also just be the armor that is larger.
Then I want bigger species for other civs!
If this continues like this, Relic Entertainment will murder the genre completely and it will be the end of the AOE.
Relic:“We will destroy the entire genre, even if it is the only thing we do”…
That hero definitely needs a BIG nerf/adjustment.
Her kit is just completely insane, it breaks the countersystem.
At level 3 (age2) she can run arround your tc and tank it for 5 hours.
If you try to kill her with pikes, she’ll just wipe them with her Q-spell.
Do you want us to analyse the mechanics in all AoE that are fanciful or should we only look at AoE4?
insert Wololo here
Yea I’m gonna be honest, ever since writing this a few days ago I hate Jeanne specifically even more. Her faction is exactly what everyone was afraid it would be: absurdly broken giga-boss moba-civ. You see it so frequently and it’s so difficult to deal with that it’s genuinely tanking the entire game balance/experience. I mean look at the win rate… of course. Considering not playing AOE for a while. This civ sucks.
Why im i the only one that has no issue playing against jeanne darc?
Just need some horsemen and spearmen.
Wall your base and try to avoid fights until you need to extend your territory for resources.
In terms of economy she had nothing good. The only thing that made french on par with other civs for economy was the faster villagers and she doesnt have. Consecrate is good to save resources but it doesn’t scale your economy. So if you’re not fighting then she has no advantage. Shes good in small battle, but in big battles with 200 pop she is not very impactful.
I think Jeanne is a cool concept but i think she will get nerfed. There are 2 things that probably need nerf : her healing skill and the amount of xp she needs to get to level 3. She gets to level 3 way too fast. Once that is addressed she will be balanced i think.
there were actual convertion irl for changing sides it just aoe way made it iconic and fun and that’s why it can get away with that one. Also aoe is a 80% accurate on historical side and this one has no sense
Jeanne is fun. OOD is crap. OOD needs a massive buff
It has as much sense as chanting “wololo” magically making enemies fight for you.
Listen, if you dislike ahistorical or fantastical elements in Age, I completely understand. But picking and choosing what you do or don’t accept is a you thing, and you can’t expect others to agree.
That’s such a silly argument, there aren’t just two IPs in the world, “exact portrayal of reality” and “non exact portrayal of reality”. With the same logic you could say there should be Roman Legions and WW1 planes in the game, because it isn’t set in current time and being selective of what part of past time is featured is somehow being hypocritical.
Age of Empires is a long-standing series. It portrays some things more realistically, others more abstract. It looks at the world trough a somewhat distorted lens, but as long as that lens is applied consistently, there is integrity to it.
“It doesn’t fit into AoE” is a perfectly fine claim to make, regardless of AoE not being a hyper realistic simulation.
(I’m really not trying to be aggressive towards GrobMort in particular, I just heard this weird pro-slippery-slope argument a lot and I think it’s nonsensical)
its about acceptance of the basis of the game thta is loved because you cant expect an established group agree with foreign elements.
