Fun fact: Based on the sound files in the game, it shows that in early development, all civilizations archers could deploy palings in the Imperial Age. At some point it was made a Longbowman-only ability for all ages
I also wish we could order the villager to build a Punji trap.
and make every trap hidden that could only be discovered by scouts.
