I wonder do most player enjoy solo 1v1 or muti vs muti?

I am just curious, the dev is by 100% balance for 1v1, yet recently I found a bunch of people who only playing games that are not 1v1, wonder which part of player is the main groups that currently in the game?

I used to only play 1v1 which is good and fine but I found it is both more thrilling and soul crushing to do team matches. Thrilling in bigger maps, more dynamics, when the team synergizes well it’s amazing! Very very soul crushing when you join a game and someone is AFK or leaves right away and suddenly it’s an automatic loss. So what a bummer. I think there are a lot of options for team dynamics, civs that work well together. My suggestion would be a way to communicate prior to match being finalized, to help coordinate civilization combos and strategies. So like 1 min vs 20 seconds or something with a chat box

I play almost exclusively 1v1, as that is generally the best—or fairest and competitively—mode.

In all other modes, victory largely depends on others rather than yourself; if those players are “randoms” rather than friends, it can be very frustrating and isn’t fun, because, no matter how well you perform, you lose.Playing with friends, however, is a completely different story.

I think the variety makes the difference; both modes have their advantages and can be fun.

The thing about playing in teams is the chaotic factor (unpredictable), and the Team role, wich are good experiences:

  • Some players don’t know what to do under extreme pressure and quit. Good teams keep fighting until the end, or they use that pressure to raid enemy bases (usually undefended), and make Fast Castle units to counterattack.

  • One of your teammates can dedicate exclusively to raiding, allowing other players to create a better Eco-Boom, or even Fast-Imperial.

  • There are several civilizations with specific roles:
    – Relic collector (ZhuXi, HRE, Rus)
    – Fast Castle (Sengoku, HRE, ZhuXi)
    – Knight feudal raid (French, Rus, Golden Horde)
    – Horse archer combos (Rus, Mongol, Ottoman)
    – Anti-Cavalry civilization (Abba, Delhi, Tuqhlaq, Ayyubid, Ottoman)
    – Defensive civilization (English, Knight Templar, Jin Dynasty)
    – Eco-Spammers (China, Abba, English).

  • Team Combos: Ayyubid Healers + Early Knights Rush; Tuqglaq Healing Elephants + Infantry Civ rush; Elephant civ + Archer civ combo; Mongol Kurultai + Ally units (+20% Attack).

  • Being the MPV, most valuable player, of the team is also refreshing: When your teammates kill 30 or 40 units, and you kill 150 or 300 units, “is Cathartic”.

You don’t see any of that in 1v1. It’s a different kind of excitement.

Please teach me how Tughlaq Dynasty is an Anti-Cav Civ cuz I can not see it

Bonus to spearman making them more effective against cavalry.

Fortresses that keep a defense distance to knights who rush.

War elephants are a counter unit to cavalry.

Mobile resource elephants mean they can move placement if raided by knights.

Also along with more effective spearman they can spam produce them very quickly! Also in addition to the war elephants being a counter to cavalry their trample ability is a great way to do an area damage around them so facing a mass of cavalry they can still be really effective

Mind you they aren’t a camel civ which is purposefully anti cavalry, but still very very very effective!

While the “Infinite Raider Elephant” combo is the most common, Tughlaq also has access to “War Elephants” in Castle Age (III).

If your enemy is a Knight-Cav civilization, you must discard the Raider Elephants and start producing a lot of War Elephants.

War Elephants have a massive bonus against cavalry (+40), and if you chose the “Tower of Victory” landmark (II), they gain +15% attack speed.

Some prefer use Spearman, becuase House of Learning (III) gives them a bonus that increase its production speed and bonuses, but that depend which was your approach in feudal age.
