Yes, that’s right… the SWGB remaster was proposed to Disney back in 2019 when the FE devs were working on AoE 2DE, but Disney rejected the idea because it no longer fit with the current Star Wars canon (which is ridiculous, because I checked the Star Wars wiki and, apart from the expansion EP2 campaigns and the Wookiee tutorial campaign, the rest more or less fits with the actual lore of the films and the saga:
Tutorial/Wookiee Campaigns (you can readapt it from Alaris Prime to Kashyyyk, connecting it to Episodes 3 and 6)
Trade Federation/Gungan Campaigns (basically Episode 1 from both sides)
Galactic Empire/Rebel Alliance Campaigns (basically Episodes 4 to 6 from both sides)
Attack of the Clones Expansion:
Galactic Republic/CIS Campaigns (basically the end of Episode 2, the 3D Clone Wars series and episode 3 from both sides)
Expanding Fronts Expansion:
Ashoka’s Campaign (based on the series of the same name)
Another topic about porting SWGB in DE, I support this, I hope that one day this will become true. With the third trilogy the game can be better then the original game from 2001. Probably no crossplay because of the impassable space terrain outside of the aerial units.
Another good game mode are the Lord of the Rings. There is mods for this universe in both AOE HD and AoM EE. If this one come to DE this will require many reskin of unit and new architectural set but there is already many asset of the original game that can used (because the story doesn’t take place in space but in a earth like planet). Because it’s a low fantasy universe I think this will fit more in AOE2 than in AoM.
the question is, does this game really still have a chance. it would be nice if microsoft opened up the age of empires 2 definitive edition engine to the community… maybe community players would do a remaster, but… i really hope i get to play this new star‑wars‑themed game. i am not a star wars fan, but i personally like these sci‑fi art styles, as well as the aesthetic concepts of armors and weapons.
Yes, according to the mod, Rey’s campaign only covers Episode 7 (you know, where she starts collecting scrap on Jakku until she finds the Millennium Falcon and, with it, the old Han Solo and Chewbacca), since it was started in 2016, but the idea was that it would continue with the other battles and episodes (the battles of Takodana in EP7, Crait in EP8, and Exegol in EP9)… then you have the Phantom Menace campaign (with the first mission with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan at the beginning of the movie on the station fighting against the Trade Federation) and the one similar to the historical battles of Age of Empires, Battles of the Galaxy (which currently only has the Battle of Jakku that we see in SWBF 2).
