So the problem with Lakota in treaty is mainly the Warchief, the tepee spam and the captured mortars.
Heres a few ides to improve the civ:
- The Warchief - Currently the explorer is too effective at killing enemy artillery, it can 1 shot splash packs of artillery seemlessly and because lakota spams skirms under tepees, its not effective to train anti cav just to deal with the explorer that can be respawned in under 5 seconds with 25 vills on the firepit.
Potential Solution: Chang the unit entirely to a rifler rider type of unit with both the heavy cavalry and ranged cav tag so skirmisher type units can counter as well as anti cav units. This would also mean the warchief could only 1 shot artillery one at a time but would still be effective at killing artillery. Maybe it could changed stances to melee and function the same way as it currently does but at least skirms can deal with it. Being a rifler rider type of unit would also means it can better deal with cavalry and it can be placed in the backlines within the tepees and actually contribute to the fight outside of killing artillery.
- Captured mortars - are too strong for all the native civs. The currently iteration makes them too effective with lakota especially in combination with warchief one shotting the enemy culverins and all other artillery.
Potential Solution: - Again change the unit entirely. The unit HP needs to be less than the current iteration, a culverin should almost be able to one shot it and other units should be able to finish it off much like a japanese mortar or a chinese hand mortar. The range should be less than that of an european mortar as investing into culverins against native civs (outside of Haudenosaunee), is very inefficent as their only purpose is to deal with mortars. The popution cost should be less than that of a european mortar as it would be a weaker unit in comparision as well as resources cost.
- The Tepee Spam! - Currenly tepee spam is just not fun for both the player playing Lakota and the player fighting against Lakota. Lakota is very dependant on tepees to function in treaty, therefore changing tepees should be taken with care. However I do think there is potential for some quality of life changes for better game play.
Potential Solution: - Reduce max tepees to 10-15. This means that the constant rebuilding of tepees is less of a shore, especially for newer players. Also much like Spain’s rework where the missonaries now have a bigger area of effect from the auras, I think tepees should also get the same treatment with a bigger area of effect. This would be fair as Lakota would loose 10-5 tepees with the change, thus less aura effect for its units. It would also allow any melee units such as cavalry to have a higher chances of being under the aura affect. It would also make pushing into a base easier as there is always a weird point in a game where the enemy starting town center radius prevents a Lakota player from building tepees, so pushing into a base is actually very hard for Lakota in Treaty games.
Any suggestions are welcomed and I can change the post if are some good ideas!
