I’ve just played a few team games since the latest patch #6159.
Your vils alre already able to gather any type of resource crates, but now they will walk half way across the map if they become idle and your team mate has some ungathered crates.
Especially frustrating at the start of games when your vils start walking to your team mates TC to gather their crates!

Probably the bug comes from this issue:
- Increased the radius in which Settlers will seek out and collect their respective resources to prevent them from idling when uncollected resources are within view.

Yup same issue. I think as @Leafy6224 mentioned it might come off of new new update.
Now when idle, my settlers are going on a trip to gather the allies crates left on the ground and even the enemy crates if they get scouted on the other side of the map.
I’m sure it’s because of this change:

It was a needed change but you guys exaggerated on the radius, this really messes up vill micro especially early

On the same note. I had another trouble related to that.
It doesn’t only happen with crates. It happens with gold mines and (I suppose) hunts as well. My settlers went behind enemy territory to gather from a gold mine that was close-ish to his TC(he didn’t scout it, so it was still available late game), so they all died. They were 2 - 3 screens away or so.
I think the radius might be global now. It goes for the closest scouted target? That’s way too much. The previous patch had way too little of a radius, this one way too much, there must be a middle ground.

Was it a lower radius than on legacy? Legacy was fine wrt moving to nearby resources

I too have experienced this bug. One of my villagers ran down to gather a teammate’s crates and another teammate’s came to mine. Happened in first game after new update.

I came here to report the same problem. It is a huge problem, and can completely ruin a game if you don’t catch it fast enough. This has to be fixed immediately, even if it means reverting back to the old villager view distance. Before it was a minor inconvenience that a settler would go idle if you didn’t give them adequate shift-commands. Now your teammates’ settlers steal your resources and screw you out of your build or resource needs. PLEASE fix it.

This is a medium sized bug because this is going to cost people games. When you finish building a town center with settlers they will often go to collect resources and those resources will often be very very far away. If you aren’t looking at them and assume they’ll be idle upon completion you’ll not only believe you lost settlers but now have to stop them from walking across the battlefield in the chaos. They will be more vulnerable to enemy attacks and u won’t even know why they walked halfway across the map.
Another new patch another new bug. Lol
