If league of legends one of the most profitable videogames uses reddit, why microsoft uses this forum?

unquestionably league of legends earns much more money than age of empires nowadays, so why age of empires just dont copy to league of legends and move the forum to reddit?
league of legends had a forum like this i guess and they moved to reddit. I started to use reddit a couple of months ago and i like it a lot, many developers use it to receive feedback, i think is much better than this kind of forum.
I’m asking this, because maybe on reddit, developers would read more easily our ideas, complains, bug reports, etc.
Also It would be more friendly for the user.
I dont know.
But as a league of legends is more profitable i think we should just copy that and move to reddit.

People not knowing the Reddit exists explains so much tbh.

lol yeah, I was like “why would you ever prefer the reddit over the forums?” after lurking for months.

Other than less draconian censorship, how is reddit better than this forum? I find this forum to be vastly superior by every other metric. The UI is way better, and it doesn’t bury posts after 2 days.

reddit does have better memes (sometimes) then here and people actually talk about playing the game somewhat

Aoe2 devs are in reddit aoe3 devs are… Nowhere.

I guess its mainly because the moderator team in r/aoe3 isn’t bound to microsoft.

because reddit has more accounts than this forum, to write in this forum you need to create an account. Reddit is a platform for many other games etc, so it has more reach. With reddit the game could reach other people that is not currently playing the game.

You don’t need to create an account to post on this forum, you can use your steam or xbox account, and if you still play any Age of game today you most likely have one of those.

The real question is, why doesn’t LoL use this forum?

because its a bigger company, they now reddit is more popular, so they can reach other people. This is… limited to people that play age of empires
the comment with more likes appear first, not here, conversely, here the comment with 10 likes appear below the comment with 4 likes, so it difficults the work for devs.
Its just other mindset, a more profitable mindset

this forum doesnt allow to upload video unless its on youtube or other platform, conversely, reddit allows.

Reddit is to put it directly mostly low effort, the ideas people post are rarely as insightful as what you see on the forum, while the forum for certain has some issues it is a far more powerful tool for users and the complexity of signing up does keep out most of the low effort posts and ideas.

Reddit also just doesn’t have a good way of separating things like bug threads from complete fluff.

I personally don’t use Reddit and when I have read articles there as a viewer without an account it is badly set up and looks like it hasn’t been updated since the early 2000s. I’ve never heard anything positive about Reddit from people I know who use it so why would I want to move out forum over there.

League of Legend audience is simply not the same as AoE3 audience.
Also, something popular doesn’t necessarily means it’s better. Reddit has a lot of flaws, ads, it’s designed to make money by itself, not as a support for a game.
