On the menu page, I noticed that the selected white box kept randomly switching. Mouse selection didn’t work; I could only try to select it by pressing the Enter key. It can be ruled out that the keyboard keys were pressed, as this situation only occurred in AOE4.
Since I’m a new user, I’m unable to upload videos. Therefore, I’ll try to describe this bug in words. This bug occurs as soon as you enter the game’s promotional interface. A white box with keyboard arrow keys for selecting options appears. This white box keeps jumping, making it impossible to press the buttons with the mouse. Pressing the ALT key can stop the white box from jumping randomly, allowing the mouse to control the menu options normally. However, once I release the ALT key, I lose control.
This bug occurred after the game update, and I have already reported it to the official through email. But it’s been a week already, and the matter still doesn’t seem to have been resolved. During this period, I tried many methods, such as unplugging all external devices. In fact, this bug is easily associated with the possibility that some peripheral device might be causing the problem. However, this is not the case. I even used the input-overlay plugin of OBS to monitor the input from my keyboard, but ultimately I found that there was no input at all. Later, I also considered that it might be a problem with the game files. Neither re-downloading the game nor verifying its integrity could solve the issue. Similar to the situation where updating the latest Windows and graphics card drivers didn’t work. Therefore, I hope everyone in the community can help figure out the reason.
