Imagine if you could reimburse the army instead of killing it 🥸

I was thinking, what would the game be like if you could refund units for all civilizations, this idea came to mind while reading a post about ships, which in my opinion would be nice to be able to convert them into units and the other way around, like a crew, but apart from this fantasy addition, I think that the reimbursement of land units above all, is useful, to modify the initial rushes, and make the game different, also to improve a defense, given that at the end of it, if you are not once the unit is lost, it is possible to get its resources back by a percentage, equally, the desire to create micros could be greatly improved, to lose the least number of units and would make the duration of the matches shorter.

This is my idea, units can be refunded to their base structure, where they were created, ‘‘Military units only’’, of a percentage based on their life, for example if the unit has 83% life that will be the number of the resource refunded in percentage, 2 thing, the refund is not instant, but it takes time, that you have to wait, after inserting the unit into the appropriate construction, so as not to make everything too fast and easy, but with a need to have the strategy in mind, instead of refunding everything that has been done at random, 2nd thing allowing the exit of the unit from the construction, before the end of the reimbursement in case of change of mind.

This feature could even be implemented only in some civilizations to make them unique, for example like in the photo below for the HRE and so on, let me know what you think!

  • Yes, that’s an interesting idea, it would be nice to have!
  • no that’s a bad idea!

The idea is actually kinda cool.
Would make sense and could relatively easily be balanced.

Make it refund like 75% of the costs (scaled by leftover HP) at 2x the creation speed.

There are no Romans in AoE4 yet.

Interesting idea this would be similar to disbanding a militia army or retirement of contract soldiers.

It’s interesting, I admit.

Furthermore, it would contrast well with the concept that the troops of the Middle Ages were a “Levy” and not a permanent army, so once the war was over, the weapons and armor of the peasants, which were provided by the feudal lord, They were returned to him or to the town gunsmith. Even the armor of nobles was sometimes left as collector’s items in private museums or as family heirlooms and could be reused, or pawned for other things in times of peace.

Good idea.

Personally I do not see a need for such a feature.

I think it would deepen the gameplay, and make everyone more aware in wanting to improve their micro, to lose the least number of units.
