Imperial Spies

Just wanted to throw this out there – as a non-Chinese player I do find Imperial Spies a bit too map-hacky. I really wish the devs would rework this so that it acts more like Terran’s Scan ability in SC2, just to reveal a selected part of the map instead. This would make it more strategic, as they player would have to choose what part of the map (villagers or military) they would want to reveal/scout instead of just seeing all of my vills all at once and getting all of my eco information.

Furthermore in teams and FFA, it does it for all the enemy players! A scan ability woudl balance it across 1v1 and multiple enemy players more easily too.

Hope this goes somewhere…

Well, it is true that the Landmark “Imperial Palace” was always very controversial:

  • In 1vs1 games, it doesn’t help much, because it is preferable to build the Clock - Siege Workshop to make a early rush with Siege equipment, or advance fast to Imperial Age.
  • In 4vs4 Team multiplayer games, it helps a lot, too much, since it warns you if the rival team is already building merchants or placing villagers in various places.
  • In Free for All, Dominion = Fornite, it is ultra-powerful, “Overpowered”, because it allows you to spy on 7 players at the same time, to see which is better to attack or defend.

So scanning an area would be quite fun and would also limit its almighty effect in FFA, although hey, it could also be made to have 2 effects: 1.- Scan a small area 2.- Scan all the villagers and merchants in a large area (but not the entire map), and you can only choose 1 per cowldown.
