Issue:
As described in the title, indestructible types of buildings (Plenty Vault, Goshinboku, and Sacred Gate) cant be placed right next to normal buildings, natural resources or the edges of the map anymore.
When playing Amaterasu, I frequently use the Goshinboku Tree and Sacred Gate to “seal off” a part of my base (placing it next to a temple, house or tower etc.). A simple move that helps create a more defensive base.
This is not possible anymore because of placement restrictions added in the last patch which should (in theory) only affect these type of GP buildings when placing two of these next to each other. However, it seems to affect a lot more, as its almost impossible to place these GP buildings in a way that helps defend your base.
Trigger Event:
Placing a Plenty Vault, Goshinboku, or Sacred Gate
Repro Steps:
- Pick one of the gods that has access to any of the indestructible GP types of buildings (Plenty Vault, Goshinboku, or Sacred Gate God Powers).
- Try placing the GP building next to a normal building, natural resource or the edge of the map - the game currently prevents this placement instead of only preventing placement near another indestructible type of building.
This is probably intended.
I cant believe that this was their intention.
The patch notes read as follows:
Placement of the Plenty Vault, Goshinboku, and Sacred Gate God Powers now requires a minimum distance away from any other of these indestructible types of buildings.
…which to me would mean that you can still place each of these GPs normally if no indestructible building is near it. Only if you try to place it near an already existing one, it should restrict the placement.
However, it seems like they flagged everything in the game (any buildings, natural resources, map edges) as restricted areas - this makes properly placing even the 1st one very tricky.
With Update 19.14612, Goshinboku Tree and Plenty Vault got improved placement restrictions.
However, it seems like the the Sacred Gate either didnt get changed or some changes that improved the placement for the other two (Goshinboku, Plenty Vault), didnt get applied to the Sacred Gate. It still has a very clunky placement - no snapping to buildings, natural resources or the edges of the map due to the previously mentioned placement restrictions.
Additionally, (and this only applies to the now fixed GP buildings → Plenty Vault + Goshinboku) attempting to place a 2nd indestructible GP building next to the 1st (for example a 2nd Goshinboku next to the 1st Goshinboku) will show the green highlight color during the placement preview, even if the player attempts to place the 2nd one within the “restricted area” of the 1st building.
→ This should get changed to a red highlight color to accurately convey the placement restrictions.
