Many people, including myself, would like to see a unique titan for every major god. Here’s my concept how that might look like. The reason i include worldending deities is because of an head canon i have in which deities are only as powerful as there followers and the practices they do. That’s why in the wonder age the “Titans” become larger and more powerful. Feel free to correct me if i’m wrong in any of my summaries of characters. (I will include a tiny bit of canon though throughout this post.) Here it goes:
Greeks:
Zeus - Hekatoncheires: Sons of Uranos and Gaia with 50 heads and 100 arms. Zeus freed them from tartaros after Cronos and the other titans imprisoned them there. Together with the primordial Cyclopes they overthrown the titans and ended the titanomachy. It makes sense why these formidible foes would fight only for Zeus, there liberator.
Hades - Cerberus: Guardian of the underworld, only loyal to his master, the god of the underworld himself.
Poseidon - Primordial Cyclopes: Just like the Hekatoncheires the primordial Cyclopes helped the gods overthrow there oppressors. They’re also the sons of Uranos and Gaia and extremly powerful. Since Poseidon is the father of some of the more famous cyclopes, like Polythemus, the primordial Cyclopes would most likely accept him as a guiding voice and maybe even one of them.
Demeter - Talos: Crafted by the divine blacksmith himself, Hephaestus, this gigant bronze automaton served as a protector of the island of Crete. Just how much destruction could he bring, if he gets in the wrong, wrathful hands of a mother, whos daughter was taken from her. (Canon)
Egyptians:
Ra - “Avatar”: The current egyptian titan isn’t just a giant monster, it is the manifestation of Ras immense power and destruction.
Isis - Ammit: The Devourer of hearts and last obsticle to the egyptian afterlife. No one escapes his jugdement. If you fail the test he will eat your heart and you’ll never see the afterlife. He plays a similiar role to Cerberus, only he is more of an enforcer then a guardian.
Seth - Apophis: What better fits the god of chaos and disorder then the embodiment of such. Original Mythology has them at opposite sides and fighting all the time, yet if we are talking of powerful deities Apophis has to be mentioned and noone suits him more then Seth. (Also if Susanoo gets Orochi, then this shouldn’t be a problem)
Unknown - The Colossi of Memnon: A giant Statue of a great warrior, animated to bring destruction to your foes. (If you find a better fit for this position please mention it in the comments, for i’m not fully ok with this one.)
Norse:
Thor - Thrym: In my head canon the current norse titan isn’t Ymir but the frostgiant Thrym. A being powerful enough to lift Mjölnir, which most gods can’t even move. Thor might be impressed by that and beats him into submission, but that’s just a little head canon for my own entertainment.
Odin - Surtr: The primordial fire giant who swings his flamming sword and brings upon the end of all things. He is inevitable and a part of the natural cycle of creation and destruction.
Loki - Jörmungandr: A nice father and son duo, only that the son is a gigantic serpent said to incompass the entire world and bringing upon the death of many gods during Ragnarök. How lovely.
Freyr - Hrungnir: A enormous stone giant said to have dueled Thor and gave him a great battle. Freyr already has stone giants in his arsenal, maybe he found a diamond in the rough.
Atlanteans:
Cronos - “Avatar”: Just like Ra Cronos does not rely on lesser deities to do his bidding but chanels his power to give life to an avatar of his very own. He is imprisoned though and therefore can only use the materials that are in his reach. Thats why his avatar looks a bit distinct from the original.
Uranos - True Giants: After the titanomachy ended Gaia wouldn’t let the olympians of the hook. She used the blood of Uranos to give birth to the giants, in an attempt to overthrow them. They couldn’t defeat the gods, perhaps it’s because they had the wrong parent guiding them.
Gaia - Typhon: The last son of Gaia, which terrifed the gods so much they had to flee to a foreign land. His apperance is truely the stuff of nightmares, having a hundread serpatine heads, serpent tails as legs, wings sprouting from his back and fiery eyes shooting flames. Even Zeus, the mightiest olympian, fell victim to him.
Unknown - Prometheus: The titan who gave humanity fire has already made his presence known in the new atlantis campaign. It’s time he joins the battle and fights for the people who honour his sacrifice. (If you know, you know)
Chinese:
Fu Xi - Bashe: Bashe embodies untamed natural forces, threatening the boundaries between human civilization and the wild. He belongs to the family of giant serpents, which for some reason appaer in many mythologys across the world. I wonder why.
Nüwa - Xing Tian: If there ever was a deity who embodies persistence it would be him. Our current chinese titan keeps on fighting, despite being decapitated. He rebeld, lost the fight and his head and still stands proudly, still fighting the rightous battle. What a guy.
Shennong - Gu: Born from natural selection and survival of the fittest. The Gu is what happens when you put some of the most dangerous creatures together and let them fight it out. Only one emerges, having absorbed the venom and spiritual essence of the ones he slain. What makes this “titan” uniqe is that he isn’t summond, but created.
Japanese:
Amaterasu - Nue: The Nue has an head of a monkey, the body of a tanuki, the tail of a snake and the limbs of a tiger. This creature symbolises chaos, disorder, malevolent forces and misfortune.
Tsukoyomi - Gashadokuro: A colossal skeletal giant born from the accumulated bones and spiritual resentment of those who died from starvation or extrem deprivation.
Susanoo - Orochi: The eight headed giant serpent, who can swallow entire mountain ranges, bows to no one but it may listen to the god who defeated it, even tho it was through trickery.
Aztecs:
Huitzilopochtli - Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli: The personification of the morning star, dawn and Venus. A towering humanoid warrior with elaborate headdress and body paint with a five pointed star on his chest. It has originaly been connected to Quetzalcoatl, yet the sun and dawn go hand in hand so i choose to pair them together.
Tezcatlipoca - Cipactli: SPOILER WARNING → He literally summons him in the obsidian mirror campaign, by himself. I rest my case.
Quetzalcoatl - Camazotz: A massive bat-like creature representing darkness, the night and death. He demands respect and appeasement or you might not see the sun ever again.
Thank you for making it this far. You probaly noticed that the last three mythologys only have three representatives. That’s because we don’t know if there will be a fourth major god for every pantheon, even though i hope and pray for it. Let me know what you think of this concept and i hope you enjoyed reading it as much as i enjoyed writting it.
