Initialization problem failed

I bought Age of Mythology Premium with the game pass to have early access but I can’t launch the game, I have the error message initialization failed which is displayed and nothing else.
I have already unlocked my firewall, updated windows, uninstalled and reinstalled the game but nothing changes, do you have a similar case?

Same thing here since the day the early access came out. I think it’s only happening on the Xbox app for PC.

I hope that when the game is officially released tomorrow it will work. If not, some of us who have purchased the Premium version will have a version that is worse than the Standard version because it doesn’t work.

non non, ça se produit aussi sur steam hélas, car j’en fais les frais aussi

I noticed several people having the same problem on both platforms without any solution according to the site the problem is under study but indeed I hope at least to be able to play the basic version when it comes out

j’ai aussi rencontré le même problème sur les deux plateformes, je vais donc attendre qu’ils fassent des modifications et je referai l’installation du jeu

Same problem here with PC game pass standard version.
I downloaded it this morning and could play the game after installation.
But after restarting the PC, the game shows initialization failed and never run again.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

I have the same problem… “Initialization failed” any solution?

for my part I abandoned the game pass version and took the steam version since everything works

Fixed by updating to Windows 11

I have the same issue (initialization failed). I tried all of the so called “fixes” that was posted anywhere, but nothing works. I have the game pass standard edition by the way. All my friends are able to play but me.

Okay, the following helped me finally:
Go to Task Manager and kill the Task “Gameinput Host Service”.

Worked for me. I hope I could help.

I have the same issues nothing seems to work either
I tried all the so called fixes and still nothing works
reinstalled c++
updated gpu drivers (clean install)
updated windows
Gameinput Host Service disable
deleted xbox game pass and reinstalled it
I dont any gpu overclocking software
I have windows 11
amd 5800x 3d
with rtx 3080
with 32g ram installed on my main drive and m.2
I run most games except this one.
My friends have no issues

Thanks for the information.
I think this is it!!!
I found that in the task manager, there were 2 Gameinput Host Service running.
It seems for some reasons that Windows 11 mistakenly auto installed two “Gameinput host service App” one located in the program files (X86) and another one is in Windows/System32 folder.
The app in program files (X86) has an older date and can be uninstalled from the app list.
After manually uninstall the Gameinput Host Service app, AoMR now runs without any problem.

Start > Settings > apps > installed apps > Microsoft Gameinput

This is the smart solution.
GameInput Host Service still runs twice, but it works.

I do not have gameinput installed in any folder also I have disable GameInput from services.msc by pressing Windows + R on your keyboard, and scroll down to find GameInput Service, right click it and disable the service.
and still nothing

Yeah, its only work on Windows 11 maybe, windows 10 still wait for solution.

I have windows 11… and nope

Lolz, I try cracked version and it launch without any error, so its because of gamepass app, not my PC.

I just wanted to make an account here to say I’m having the same issues with very similar specs. 5800X and 3080 (although I have Windows 10 and 64GB ram). I think I saw a Reddit thread where someone else with a 3080 was having similar issues, so maybe it’s related to the graphics card. Hopefully they can figure it out, I would love to move to PC and not have to play it on my Series S.
