I still don’t understand why Mexico has cards to upgrade this unit at ages 3 and 4. It doesn’t level up above veteran. It has 130 hp and 15 damage and only 10% armor. Why waste three cards on this useless unit, especially for an overprice. Compared to the same strelet, it’s x1.5 more expensive, which I also don’t understand. If all this is done solely for Maya, then put these cards in Yucatan and Maya, the main deck doesn’t need them.
They were super op at release. Over time they had to be nerfed. The cards have some function in 1v1. Making you send them before going Mayan is a way to slow down such a strat (whether that’s needed or not idk).

Nobody plays Mexico in Maya in supremacy. Only in Treaty. It slows down too much.

I play a mexico insurgente/maya build in team ranked supremacy (solo Q). So far i’ve reached 1900elo. The build works, it’s just a matter of skill.
So you don’t take the Yucatan economic cards (including the factory), but only the cards for the insurgents? Because no one on your elo will let you sit with the veteran army for 20 minutes. (I use a card for three TP in the age 2.
Insurgente yucateco (veteran) has lazo attack and it becomes a musk with the upgrade. It can be spammed in huge numbers, and that way it trades well with most age iii or even age iv upgraded units. The only economic card i take from yucatan is the one that gives trickle of every resource per hacienda. I don’t take factory because i think revolting maya and getting more upgrades pays off better.
So you need to take at least 4 cards from Yucatan and 5(6?) from basic before moving to Maya. Where to get so many shipments?

With a trading post, the tech from the church that doubles xp for the age up, and in extreme cases, the tech from the church that gives 500xp at 10 minutes for 750coin you should be able to get all shipments in time.
Remember that when you send “reservistas”, the unit stops to being a pike and becomes a musk, but a really fast and very cheap one, so it can be produced in huge numbers. If u add to the huge numbers the lazo attack from revolt that has 2 area damage, you end up with unit good against almost everything.
The real counter to yucateco is artillery, especially gatling gun or organ. A big chunk of skirm with artillery behind and you are done. But insurgente is so fast that you can avoid engaging and raid their base or any other point in the map.
PD: you need to hacienda boom in age 2, that gives you a lot of xp too.

I would prefer revolutionaries (which are even more expensive) for the same purpose. They need fewer cards, and don’t need any revolutions, except maybe Rio Grande to make it really fun.

My opinion is that they simply eat up the population limit and in the first battle all 40 of them die in 10 seconds. If you are being rushed you can always defend yourself effectively with skirm/pike and then continue with the build order. No big deal.
Compared to russian rusket, insurgente yucateco has deadly lazo with area damage, can reach 7.25 speed, and cost only food. If you are playing this BO correctly, you should reach maya before opponent reach imperial. So you have imperial upgrade for food before opponent has theirs for food and gold (double cost). In a fight against rusket, insurgente would probably win due to lazo attack.
40 insurgente is too few. You should at least have 60. Remember it should be really easy to have 90 of them running around sieging and raiding at all times. Assuming you maxed 85 vill, you still have 115 pop space for insurgente. If they run to your base you fight with like a 100 of them, retraining pretty fast.
Hacienda boom in age 2 doesn’t give you just xp. You can get up to 16vill from tlaxcala card with them, and it’s a way to protect your vills against raids with their garrison feature. So, you age up to fortress a little bit late, but with really good economy and buildings that strategically defend your natural resources. Also, the age up is really fast due to the church tech, and once you reach fortress you can put your 7 haciendas into vill production.
Revolutionary is just a weak and cheaper version of a musketeer with no upgrades. It’s a whole different level.
Reservistas at age iv is not worth it imo. Insurgente gets really powerful with yucatan and maya upgrades.

They don’t kill vills only buildings. But they still die to musks kr skirms, or even TC. So they are only deadly if you don’t make army at all. But in that case any units are deadly.
