ISSUE EXPERIENCED
DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.
The issue with “invalid filetype” associated to sprites constantly happen with no reasonable reasons.
It happens whenever I play a Skirmish game or Campaign. It doesn’t occur when I play a game on the Test mode on Editor.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
-
I do NOT have any mods activated. Thus, this issue is NOT related to mods.
-
I have already REINSTALLED the game twice.
-
I have already REINSTALLED the Enhanced Graphic Pack (UHD).
-
Even the UHD was NOT activated.
Nevertheless, the issue still happens. This is, as I said, since the Three Kingdoms update. I see this much severe case is only to me so far, because no possible solutions worked.

REPRODUCTION STEPS
List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
- Play a Skirmish game or a Campaign scenario. To me, it was the Into China of the Genghis Khan campaign.
- Wait for 15 minutes or so in game. If it is the Into China, capture the Villagers and build your TC and step on until the error message pops up.
- If you have the same issue as me, then you should see the freeze and message like the one above.
EXPECTED RESULT
What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?
The game should run without problems.

GAME FILES (SAVE / RECORDING)
Attach a SAVE GAME (.aoe2spgame) or GAME RECORDING (.aoe2record) of the match where you encountered the issue. Link it below if using an external file service.
- rec.aoe2record (2.3 MB)
I’m going to attach my log here as well.
- Age2CrashReport.txt (4.5 KB)
Additional report
This issue happens even on Editor when I turn the UHD on.
Therefore, it is associated with both UHD and something else.
