I couldn’t test the PUP for myself yet. But here have a look at Red Phosphurus video.
From this small clips, to me it looks like melee units pathing is going back to old Voobly userpatch days where melee units wouldn’t bump into each other.

I think I saw some villagers getting stuck near trees/bush/mines while playing on PUP. So, no, pathing isn’t fully fixed.
Fixing the title to “Melee units pathing”.
They might have overcorrected some stuff regarding melee unit interaction but it is the best I’ve tested in a while. Have a feeling though that it will be kind of like that period between where archers sucked after the attack move nerf, and then in the HC5 special patch we were all so happy to see archers be useable again.
I have seen some problems with working villagers causing pathing issues around wood/gold/stone etc but at least the African Clearing shorefish is finally fixed, has been bugged for 2+ years.
This uppcoming patch (hopefully without the dumb skirmisher nerf which isn’t necessary after the better melee “pathing”) will probably showcase how much influence this has on the balance.
Both unit and civ-wise. When you look at the stats of eg teutons at aoestats.io you will see that they took a huge hit of like 2 % or even more when the “regrouping behaviour” was fixed. That was when CA became viable again as before they lost units because of the bugged regrouping.
Teutons as the most melee heavy civ and weakest to CA were the civ that took the biggest bump there - and possibly will also be mots benefitting in the new meta - except if missing husbandry isn’t a deal breaker.
Skirmisher nerf was the 1st thing that came to my mind while watching the video.
Sincerely hope this works as he shows. Will be an excellent change to the game.
