Is Medical Corps Historically Inspired?

I was checking the wiki for MC and found that it claims that historically Dravidians did not have it:

Considering we had a similar issue with the Thirisadai, I did not think it would happen again. Can anyone else confirm? Is AOE2 just based on Wikipedia pages or is it just Dravidians?

Pretty sure it’s just Dravidians. All the other stuff in the game is based on pop culture (blame the devs), misconceptions, or actual history. However, there’s still a basis for those things. This is just based on a hoax.

The tech should be renamed “Chola Elephantry” or something along those lines.

Yes, it’s historically based. Historically based in a false wikipedia article

Thing is, Dravidians have some of the worst elephants as well, despite historically having the largest elephant army in history. Even with MC, it doesn’t make up missing all the other elephant related techs. So, I am not sure a name change (particularly ''Chola Elephantry") would do it justice. Also, I associate regeneration and healing more with Buddhism so I would prefer that this effect be given to Bengalis or a future Tibetan civ.

I would like to replace it with some other tech like Mahouts (elephants +30% speed) so that they would be best in at least some situations or context.

Who knows maybe these inaccurate namings will get fixed with a future dravidian split similar to indian split.

Another one is the ending of the Armenian campaign.

The inspiration for this forgery comes from a later king of Armenian Cilicia Hetum II, who did abdicate twice, but in a way similar to Heian-era Japanese emperors, pulling strings from inside a monastery.

I like it. But only for BE. Their Elephant Archer is already good, perhaps the best after Bengalis losing PT.

Maybe they should have weaker siege and wootz steel only affect infantry, but Dravidian elephants are better?

Why would the devs split paid content?

It would be more like a Dravidians rename, as everything else would remain the same.

Frankly, I still don’t like that nerf. Bengalis were meant to be weak until they get to Imp and then win with EAs. Now, they are more of a Castle drop into UU civ. I would revert it if I could.
Also, I don’t think giving AE more speed would be OP since Drill rams would still be faster.

Yes, I previously suggested replacing siege discount with free cav armor upgrades to help reduce the cost of entry to elephants.

I don’t like that idea. It doesn’t synergize well with missing the last armor upgrade. I would prefer such a bonus be saved for a future civ with actually good cavalry.

Except that bonus would be OP on any civ that has good cav. +2 Knights beat camels and can raid under TCs in early castle age, ending the game right there. You will never have enough spears to deal with them. Dravidians are the only civ in the game that can have this bonus without being OP.
Also, Dravidians can be given access to the last cav armor if the devs wanted to go in this direction (I just don’t think it is necessary). In exchange, they can take away some other tech like heavy scropion or SO or BBT.

Why did they split the slaves to bohemians and polish?

Same.

True. And currently Dravidians have little to no reason to train Armored Ele as rest of their siege units are discounted.

They should rename it Ayurveda. Ayurvedic medical sciences of advanced nature were pioneered in South India.

So now it is free content

Future split is possible.

Tamils do not like to be associated with Vedas or any of Aryan text.

What utter nonsense. I am a Tamil myself and you can take this Dravidianism crap elsewhere.
