It’s been over two grueling weeks since the dreaded announcement.
The original communication was somewhat ambiguous and not a single piece of communication was given since then.
In these 2+ Weeks:
You still haven’t learned that communication is key, even if it’s very little communication. I have low confidence that anyone of import is reading these, but we’re running on hope.
Or you’ve known very well of this basic tenet and are still willfully sabotaging.
In these 2+ Weeks:
We’ve reached over 4.1k signatures in an online petition.
In these 2+ weeks:
We’ve sent tens of thousands of justified and heartfelt messages, forum posts, and comments throughout the internet (not just on this forum).
In these 2+ weeks:
The community had to cope with the despair of not knowing if the last patch was the absolute last patch we’ll ever receive.
In these 2+ Weeks:
We’ve been forced to entertain prospects of self-balance, modding, self-promotion all without having the game become open source to allow ease for all of these things.
Can we at least get an update on something, like literally, anything?
For instance:
What and where is the “customer support” you spoke of?
Is the game officially dead or did the DLC simply get cancelled until further notice?
A clear answer as to what we can expect and if there’s any hope for turning this ship around?
Every day that goes by, the community feels less heard and more betrayed.
But there’s a silver lining.
The silver lining is that this pain can and will turn into extreme joy and jubilation.
Should you reverse this dreadful decision.
And in doing so, you’ll surely receive more sales and PR than you would have originally.
Do the right thing.
Financially, morally, Age of Empireally.
Pushing the DLC and continuous updates for just a little while longer is the right move in every way.
The change to the in game message that removed any possibility of future things seemed somewhat clear. The fact that they did it when they did also seems somewhat like they didn’t care at all about the backlash.
My impression is that it’s officially dead; World’s Edge decided to cancel all development of the game in favor of other projects. Is there any hope then? Well, maybe yes, the decision could be overturned perhaps through community pressure.
We’ve had some interesting updates in the past few weeks, namely that some higher-up was made aware of the petition.
I’m afraid 5,100 signatures may not move the needle for them though.
I wonder what the threshold of sales need to be to make it worth pushing a DLC and if the numbers really did and would not have added up.
All in all a very horrible show of face by the company. They can still turn it all around but it’s not sounding like they want to. Hopefully I’m wrong, clinging on to hope.
Forgive my rather agressive stance on this but I do not see why 3DE players should have to sell the game to those in charge of it. Expressing thoughtful sentiments about the what game means to us is nice but do not delude yourselves into thinking some suits who have never touched the game cares.
WE simply does not care.
We couldn’t even get one last patch to fix bugs for hells sake.
