I understand this is a siege. You start on the backfoot attempting to relieve a demoralized garrison against a horde. Pretty cool for a movie, reminds you of Helm’s deep. Now what happens in moderate is that you start creating units, the mongols very quickly tear down your gate with their onagers and all three enemies enter your city and destroy it. I attempted to build an inner wall closer to the castle to draw the horde but my only 3 villagers were swiftly executed by the mangudai. I cannot make more villagers…game over.
Honestly I could not start to imagine a more broken mechanic for a game even if I mustered the entirety of my powers of imagination. This is like sitting an average joe in front to the computer that beat Kasparov and have him play. 4 moves, check mate. Next game, 3 moves, check mate. And so on and so forth.
My request is very simple:
If you are going to make the computer this aggressive at least allow the player to make more villagers so he can dream of building a krepost or some walls or something.
And to anyone who managed to beat this…thing (I really dont know how to call this) on moderate, my hats off to you sirs! you should try competitive chess or something
Is that the one with the Khans? I don’t think is broken, It is supposed to be pretty difficult, I beat it on Hard back in release version and the Strategy were to spam Krepost and fill them with archers for extra arrows until you got good enough economy, a couple of Krepost together melt their units
Hello! thanks for you interest in my post. Yeah this is the one with the khans that you have to kill to get the cumans to ally with you. I know that through googling because I never made it that far. The first wave of mongols tears through my city like a hot knife through butter. I even lost my castle to the keshiks that green spams. I tried building a krepost but the mangudai killed my only three villagers. My hope was that I would lose a lot of villagers but get some kreposts but I cannot make more villagers. And I ended up here on this forum.
I haven’t played It recently, so i don’t if the AI is somehow more aggressive now. How many troops and resources do you have, keep troops protected inside the Castle and try to sell and buy Stone to build krepost as soon as posible.
You need to snipe the three purple Khans in red and green base, so they can become your allies. If you dont do this you will struggle a lot, though it’s still beatable.
Let the first yellow army to destroy your gate so the can die against your castle (research murder holes and arrow attack upgrade). You might lose your market, but it wont be THAT necessary to finish this map.
Get in your base by boat without losing a single unit, research Husbandry, cavalry armor and attack upgrade, click on Imperial Age and train Konniks. Send them to red’s base first, lure the Khans outside the castle range and kill them. Go back to your base, heal you army and do the same thing to green. Now it becomes a walk in the park to finish the game.
Here, check it, played on Hard, speed 2.0. Investing in Monastery techs and Town Patrol was a waste of gold…
Hello! and thank you for your interest in my post. I tried this like 5 times, and my best time was about 10 minutes before losing my villagers. I never had any chance to leave my base to try and kill the khans.
Hello Darkkillermon, and thank you for your interest in my post. Unfortunately I have since moved on to other campaigns. I was thinking about this one and I think the mechanics of the mission might be improving by getting 3 vilagers after you lose your original ones, so that you only have 3 villagers max without robbing the player of his only hope. Just a thought.
Scenarios like these are usually very punishing towards players who like taking their time with building up their forces.
It was the same for me. You have to be very aggressive in this mission, always que up units and build extra defenses and balance defense and attack. But I assure you it’s not broken.
