Interesting dude but Im hoping you are not proposing the Templars as a civilization

Also I think hes not a very fitting character for a campaign, his rule over the order is interesting but fairly lacking in action setpieces

Between Italians and Sicilians, adding Templars as a stand alone civ would be the height of redundancy.

Maybe the three knights dlc for time is just idea

What we need is units or unit skins to represent templars and hospitaller knights in editor. We already have teutonic knights.

Master of the templars is already a hero unit so give him a proper skin.

Hmm, I’d expect Templars to be Franks (although I admit I don’t know much about them).

Is the Crusader Knight not appropriate for Templars and Hospitallers?

Nope that unit is based off a teutonic order unit with black crosses. The current teutons uu kinda fits a templar but we dont have anything similar to a hospitaller ingame.

Looks almost identical to the picture of Jacques de Molay on the first post of this thread. Maybe that picture isn’t accurate, though.

I think these are all adequately represented by the Crusader Knight, or even just the regular knight line.

Do we have any unit remotely similar to a hospitaller knight ingame with black robes and white cross?

You’d be right. Templars took from frech/spain, teutons took from … teutons/poles and hospitallers took from italians/sicilians.

But I was focusing more on the time period and region - in that time and era, the knight orders were concentrated in the mediterranean. Pulling a civ out of that would either have a civ thats almost a clone of the existing italians/sicilians or be some weird pile of memes.

The Crusader Knight is, in my opinion (and I stress that this is just an opinion) close enough. Sure, his robes are white with a black cross instead of black with a white cross – but this is a game in which Asians, Africans and Americans all field European-looking units, Huns, Goths and Vikings build 15th-century German buildings, and so on. I really can’t find it in me to care that no unit looks exactly like a Knight Hospitaller – although don’t let that stop you.

Obviously its wishful thinking we would get these units/skins as they would show up in a middle eastern dlc which is very unlikely. Some european dlcs might add these but again we have too many of them already.
