Jadwiga 3 - Duel of the Dukes - heroes are not upgraded through combat

ISSUE EXPERIENCED

When fighting with the heroes to improve their abilities, neither one of them (not Jogaila nor Jadwiga) is upgraded correctly. This is (most likely) due to the fact that the player does not start with them and neither they are spawned/respawned under player’s control, but merely “switch sides” from Poland to player.

100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

just play the jadwiga 3 mission and fight with heroes
once the prompt about them being upgraded pops up, check out their stats to see that nothing had changed

EXPECTED RESULT

heroes were, obviously, supposed to be upgraded, but they are not

after completing the secondary objective and fully upgrading both of the heroes, you can see Jogaila’s stats to be the same as at the beginning of the mission:
