Any deck ideas/Meta I should be using as Japan in 4v4?
Not a pro, but for fights around 1350 ELO you can try this one
Age up order:
- Torii gates
- Shogunate
- Pavillion
- Buddha
Consulate focus:
Dutch (Gold trickle, church, bank, livestock pen)
After you get all these upgrades, you can switch to the other options to gather all those upgrades too, leave japan for last for the Hp upgrade.
Plan:
You start with the consulate so you can get the dutch gold trickle as soon as possible, then in age 2 you go full ashigaru, with their speed, you can reliably reinforce your allies in good time.
In age 3 you can start going with a mix of units, but I tend to keep a significant amount of Yabusame horse archers to snipe enemy artillery (You can become the team’s culverine)
Hopefully you are the 1st one to reach age 4, so you can send the cheaper unit upgrades card, it has a lot of value the earlier you send it.
To consider:
The deck doesn’t have many upgrades for a team game, but I usually don’t let them get to prolonged anyway, even playing somewhat defensively.
Remember that most team cards are half the value of a regular card, so they are MOST valuable in 4v4s than 2v2s, so if you mostly stick to the former, make sure to add more.
Here I have a treaty deck that’s a team deck from Dori’s website…
And here’s one I made that’s more of a full team support…
Thank you!! I am so going to try that out!
Could you please pass the link Sir?
This sounds to me like a PvP kind of question, so I’ll ignore any vs AI considerations.
I’m nearly 1700 elo in team supremacy (yay pixel points lol), that’s mostly playing other civs but I do feel I have some useful knowledge that is transferable.
A very big thing Japan has is the ability to compound upgrades. Most upgrades work off of a unit’s BASE STATS, but the Golden Pavilion and the Daimyos and Shogun work off of CURRENT STATS.
That’s a very big deal because if we imagine a unit with 100hp, vet will give it +20%, guard will give +30%, and imperial will give it +50% giving it a total of 200hp. If you throw in some random upgrade like a hp card for +15% it’ll add 15hp no matter when you add it because everything is off of the base at 100.
For Japan, the same applies except the Daimyo/Shogun auras and the Golden Pavilion work off the current stats, meaning that unit with 200hp in imperial would have 220 near a Shogun (I think a Shogun does +10%). Obviously throw in more cards and get the stats higher and the increase will be more. Upgrades stacking is a big deal imo.
What I see a lot of decent Japanese players doing is booming and trying to age (probably so they can stack more upgrades). Then later they have a swarm of Yumis or Ashis with Daimyo and Shogun support and a brutal age 4 push with some shipped flaming Arrows.
A lot of the time in a 4v4 you may only make 1-2 unit types as you will normally be fighting with allied help, so I would suggest you may want the maximum upgrades possible for a couple units. You probably want one of those to be Yumis.
You want at least a Daimyo and the Shogun in deck along with things like Team Chonindo, Heavenly Kami, Royal Mint, Refrigeration, Bakufu (faster unit training) and the normal cards required to get your eco going and a few military shipments for emergencies or timing pushes.
Team 3 fishing boats could be great on a water map even if that’s the only water card you take.
Btw, age up order is probably something like: Mega Shrine (or Tori gates for a rush) → Pavilion → Shogunate (protect this hard) → The other one from age 2. I’m not a huge fan of the great Buddha, but it can be useful.
I hope this helps.
Please note most of my Japanese experience is in treaty, and 1v1 and 2v2 Sup, so I haven’t done this my self much. I like Portuguese and Dutch in 4v4s myself.
i not in your elo but you should take the 5 shrine card ,it gives you a lot tempo
